15K Service Question

15K Service Question
I recently went to the dealer to inquire about what was done during the 15K service. They mentioned that the oil changed was much more indepth than just a regular change and strongly recommended me to get it done for another $250.00. According to them, they change both oil filters and remove the entire 12 quarts of oil (as opposed to the standard 8-9 quarts).
Does anyone know if this is true? Some have mentioned that it's just a standard oil change...nothing more.
Thanks!

i change my oil every 3000 miles... no matter what...
but my dealer charge me 175 for the entire job though... a bit cheaper...
and my 15K service... I believe the oil change is included in there...
total came out to be around 400...or a bit less....

2 Filters - Nonsense!!!
This is a scam by dealers to find a way to charge a lot of money for an oil and filter change. Most Porsche people are use to spending a lot of money on these changes because the 993 has 2 filters and was kind of dificult without a lift to do and did take longer. So the dealers charged accordingly. So the dealers charge the same for the 996 and TT for oil changes on Porsches which is a joke. You just need the right tools for the 996 and TT.
The dealers should have lowered the price for the oil changes, yeah right.

Though I can't speak for how much the dealer is charging you and whether it is a fair price, it is possible that the TT has two oil filters like the 993. As I understand it, the two filters are due to the dry sump oil system, which was standard on the 993 series, and not so on the standard 996/986 series. Again, I am not sure if the TT/GT2/3 have two filters, but it could be possible since they all have a powerplant based on the original GT1 and use dry sump lubrication.

Only one oil filter!!!!!!
Get the change process and you will see there is only 1 oil filter and it sits nicely on top of the engine next to the air filter. I have done an oil change on my 03 turbo without even jacking my car up and I am somewhat large. Drain the 2 turbo tanks, engine and sump, replace crush washer for each drain. Change oil filter from the top of the engine . Add oil . It is a one hour job!!!
Whoever told you there are 2 filters on a 996 turbo is smoking something and I want some
