Question Max Tire Width w/ on Stock Wheels?

So I have the stock wheels on my '05 Turbo S and I'm wondering what the widest tires I can on them without rubbing is?
Right now I'm eyeing up the Yokohama A048 tires and I found that the came in the following size:
235/40QR18
315/30QR18
is that going to fit or is that too large? The total diameter is going to be a tiny bit taller too so its going to raise the car up a bit.. is that going to be a problem?

I am running MPSC tires in those sizes with oem 996tt rims.Under hard acceleration the inside will rub a little-does not bother me as i visually check them after each track day.

Should be no problem...I'm running the same as gneypiks and Michelins run big...so Yokos should be just fine. Let us know how you like them please.

the inside will rub? Do you mean like the inner fender, or on like the strut housing?
And what rubs, the front tires or rears?

Only the rears. It rubs on the plastic wheel liner, again another factor is what kind of suspension set up your car has.Mine is lowered with coilovers n cambers are adjusted.

Lightbulb

lowering shouldn't change whether or not you'll rub or not. It just gives you less suspension travel. I the end at some point you'll use up your entire suspension travel, but with a lowered car it will happen sooner.

i don't want any rubbing at all. What about 305/30QR18
tires then? Also is there any way to roll that plastic wheel liner or something so I don't have to worry about rubbing?

Looks like the consensus is that 235/40R18 fronts and 315/30R18 rears work well, especially with an adjustable suspension. Besides the stock wheels, anyone have any recommendations on a good set of wheels for street and occassional track use?

There are so many choices out there but wanted something light, strong, and reasonably priced for days I don't want to be on very low profile 19" wheels! Preferably something you can get that's black with a polished lip!

i would have thought 315/25QR18 would have been closer to the factory diameter as well, but I can't find any tires that come in that size. Only 315/30/18. I think I may just go 305/30/18 to be on the safe side. the Yokohama AO48's come in that size as well, and they look like they'd be pretty grippy.
