Techart new engine mods for 996 Turbo (734 hp / 940 Nm!!!)

PV996TT posted about this yesterday but the post was lost.
Here it is again, the T5 upgrade. There will be a T6 version as well with more hp but I'm going to let you melt this first...

The Carrera GT has been recorded to do 0-200 km/h in 10,2 secs. by sport auto (reliable source.)

On the basis of: 3,6 l, 420 hp (X50, GT2)

Engine change consisting of:
Sport air-cleaner-system
Modified air induction pipes
Large injection
large e-gas throttle
Titanium connecting rods

Modified valve impulse
TechArt-Turbo chargers T5

the 0-62 time isn't that great...but look at the 0-100....
wow...only 2 sec later...

more money saving from now on...

The price is probably going to be astronomical, thatĀ“s for sure. However, as amazing as the performance figures are, IĀ“m a bit disappointed. The Manthey, for a pricetag of 50.000 EUR, offers the same if not better performance. The only difference is that the Manthey crew use "ordinary" turbochargers, no ball-bearing, ceramic-impeller or zero-clearance technology. Slap on a pair of ball-bearing or zero-clearance turbos on the Manthey and watch the Techart back away into the darkest corner of the Nurburgring, exposing only its expensive, fiberglass front end. Here are the stats for the Manthey (note that the horsepower stated for the manthey are probably AWHP). And better yet, Manthey also offers a "700" HP version. Gee, I wonder how fast thatĀ“s gonna be

One important note to the performance figures.

Techart uses the philosophy that these times should be possible for the "average driver."

The numbers are nice, but not outstanding. There are a few of us on the boards who have already exceeded this mark at 1.4 to 1.5 bar. I have exceeded it at 1.25 bar.

I can understand some of their limitations based on the turbos they are using. After a conversation with Kevin, I don't believe you will find the zero clearance turbo presently going in Techart's direction. It was my understanding the zero clearance turbo is far better suited for making power in the 4000 to 5500 rpm range.

The above parts menu for the most part addresses areas many of us have already explored. I would be interested in how they addressed their cam issue.

A few years ago, I use to look at German companies like Techart in awe. It is strange how all that has changed over the last few years.

I know you did, IĀ“ve been following your escapades ever since you announced it on Rennlist. Just a quick reminder. Quoting by memory: "I am satisfied with achieving the goal of 600 SAE HP and will go no further. After all, someone will always have a faster Porsche". Care to comment?

Anyway, do you have any new performance numbers on your "stock" car?

That is all fine and well, but the 62-125 mph time is faster on the Manthey. Even an average driver shouldnĀ“t have problems from 100 km/h onwards.

Comment: My, how time changes things. My first goal was 500 hp, then 600 hp, then 700 hp, then 800 hp and finally 1000hp. Please don't hold me to the finally part. However, seriously I don't believe I need to go any farther.

I still believe there will always be a faster one...... someplace. Just look at what has transpired over the last few months. In addition, there are projects like buddy's which are currently "in progress." I believe you must also define the word "fast." By this I mean, once you reach a certain point you can't be the fastest in all classifications, acceleration, standing start, handling, etc. The things required to be one the fastest in one area starts to hurt the other areas. An example, there are things that need to be done to areas other than the motor to obtain off the line traction. These are things I don't want to do to my car. I am currently changing my gearing. My 3.167 first gear and 1.738 second gear ratios are not conducive to off the line starts. My suspension is currently so low, tight and stiff that I am having second thoughts about street drivability. If you want a track car, the turbo is the wrong platform. This gets back to the above quote. Taken to extremes in any one area, someone will always be faster. I am not going to worry about this. Instead, I will attempt to form the car into what I want, which is an excellent all around street car which will be enjoyed occassionally. That is to say once or twice a week.

Anyway, do you have any new performance numbers on your "stock" car?
Yes, the car has been dyno'ed. If I was to post these numbers it would be like putting a bull's eye on my back.

I never questioned your numbers, I know however that there are some people who will talk crap no matter what. ThatĀ“s just jealousy rearing its ugly head. IĀ“m guessing youĀ“re around 800 RWHP w/ CO2 and NOS. Now thatĀ“s one helluva stock car .

THe techart car is probably RWD though!! their level 3 and 4 (roughly 600 HP and 640) are also RWD only...THye disconnect the front diff. as part of their package

The car takes 3,7 s from 100-125 sounds to much to me
should be around 2,5 s wich makes 0-125 around 8,3 s.
