Just watched the vid....boy oh boy this whats erks me about owning one of those things...the riced out factor. If he lost all those decals and dumped the gauges he might have done better! Less weight and wind resistance.

 

I love my evo 8... I drive it everyday... my best was 10.2 sec. at 137 mph.
I tried to make it as stock as possible... even considered taking the wing off...
If you guys never sat in a low 10 second street full weight evo... you just don't understand... I was not convinced til I got mine... here is a link for those who didnt see the run....

BTW- that 8 sec AMS run is the company car... they are located 15 minutes form my house.... its a fully gutted race car... and it's not driven on the street.
they do good work though...

I know martin and the whole crew... they are good guys...
that car runs a gt42R custom turbo... and probably 100 shot of NOS for the spool up.
I did 10.2 on a gt35r without NOS and on a stock weight car. I didnt want to go to a bigger turbo... it gets hard to drive on the street.

the listed mods on the evo include the titanium turbo from an evo 6.5 makinen.

no way he's making big power using the makinen turbo. its essentially same sized as a stock evo turbo. the titanium alloy construction just allow for faster spool up.

to run with a even a stock TT, the evo will need a bigger turbine, as the stock sized ones have difficulty maintaining high boost levels.

 

Stock IX turbo (US spec non TiAl wheel) can produce HP with a TBE and tune to match the 996TT power to weight. On 91 octane.

 

It seems to be working, try right click save as. I really didn't pull until we got over 100mph, aerodynamics?

yep g money is on the money ..the stock evo 9 is quite larger then then previous 8's.and can pull a stock TT without a turbo swap.

I seen it online only... If ams built it then its a good deal... but I looked into the set up I doubt it makes 640 awhp... it really needs a stand alone like AEM or a autronik... like I do... otherwise there is no way u can tune that car ,.... and I just got a call form my tuner after he just looked at the website... 660cc injectors are too small for that HP.
Alot of people say that ams built the car.... but is it really true? or did they just buy the turbo kit and long block and installed it themselves in the garage

 

AMS's biggest stroker kit is a 2.3l and also, that is not there fmic. They should have provided a dyno sheet to prove it's hp. That is there header and turbo.

I have the ams rods and pistons.... but kept the 2 liter so I can go to 10K rpms... ams apparently is having issues with crank shafts breaking with the bigger motors... and 660 cc injects cant keep run 647 awhp running rich.... no way... I have 880s and I did 640 awhp ON AMS'S mustang dyno.
