Why aren't there more sub 3000lb cars?

Porsche (or anyone else) could easily make a sub 3000lb sports car. The thing is, you gotta find people to buy it. Unfortunately, all cars have been Lexusized, and getting prospective owners to part with sound deadening, luxurious materials and the luxury of overal heft is going to be tough. So you just tell the engineers to up the horsepower as much as they can and while they're at it, design a suspension and brakes to deal with the extra weight and power. You already have some "enthusiasts" on another board I was reading, complaining that the GT-3 is uncomfortable for everyday use. You think Porsche is gonna have an easy time selling their slimmed down cars to the guys who only goose the gas pedal is when someone's trying to steal a spot in front of them at Neiman Marcus? Just get the RS versions whenever they come out I guess

if u want a sweet, lightweight, fun car, look into the GT3 RS: http://fast-autos.net/porsche/porsche911gt3rs.html go here and check out the numbers on it. fast-autos.net is not the most accurate, but gives you a ballpark range.

and don't forget the 427 cobra jet. Also, if u want to wait around for a few years, the new shelby cobra, V10, 600 horses, 0-60 in 3.3 seconds, and ford thinks they can make it available to the public in '08 for about 100k
