It consists of a machined piece that slides over the ball-end of the orignal shifter (lengthening it) and is affixed with a set screw. Upon this piece there is a rod-end with spherical bearing. Into this screws the cable end replacement that attaches to the original cable shaft with 3 set screws.

Additionally it replaces the bushings that the shifter operates in with needle bearings in billet housings.

my dad ordered a Porsche SSK a few days ago, so it should arrive end of this week or beginning of next...very intresting reading...lots of info on the different options out there...

I have the B&M SSK and the EVO shift link. Love them both. Tight, shorter shift and positive feel. Only slightly notchier but, with definite click in each gear. You'll love this mod.

Yeah... my car is a daily driver, and I didnt want something that created more effort to drive. So Im seriously considering the the EVO swift instead of SSK. Seems to be a good compromise between stock and true SSK. Now the question is can I install myself or bring it to my mechanic.

It is a pretty easy install, IMHO, but I always do my own work. If you are used to doing your own wrenching, then go for it.

I'll stick by this. No special tools or anything. Basically you're just going to remove about 8-10 screws that hold the console down, take it out, unplug a few wires and remove the shifter from it's housing. Replace it with the new shifter and put it all back together. You'll have the whole thing done in an hour or less.

I had the B&M short shifter install in my GT3 and it greatly reduced the travel also, but the shift effort is a bit higher and notchy. Does anyone have detailed instructions on how to adjust the linkage?
