OK guys, I think you will like this one. My E55 is on a boat and I should have it within a couple of weeks. The accessories department at the dealership called to ask if I wanted all sorts of options (radar, lojak, extra paint protection (yea right), ...). So I say I might be interested in the electroluminescent door sills. I think they look pretty neat. I ask how much? Get this $1,195 installed.

Somebody tell me how it is going to cost $1,000 in labor to install these. Anyone done this? It should be simple. Dealerships … ughh!

 

I did this in my 98 sl500 and it took me about 1.5 hours. Simply wire it into the courtesy lights. Some panel removal in Benzes (under dash) can get tricky but you should easily be able to do it yourself. I bought mine from performance parts.

Techart offers similar door sills for TT but too pricey....
I think they look sweet!! I saw them on an SL55

 

I would look into brabus parts.. they have something similair. Also they are OEM quality if not better.. I would stay away from Japanese products on a mercedes.

 

JASCLASS I know it's not direct but if I remember, as long as it is car related (and I did indicate with my descriptive title it was certainly OT) they usually allow it. I think I will go with the Rennsport Mercedes Benz and not the AMG. I think the MB looks nicer. And yes, for $1,000 I’ll be doing it myself, thank you very much.
