Plug replacement

According to the Porsche, they put the following labor times for a spark plug replacement on a 2001 911 TT.

1.3 In Warantee replacement
1.8 Out of warantee replacement

Usually the labor rates are around $90 and hour, plus parts. I was quoted 250 for the job by my dealer.

Why on earth would they charge differently or need different
time to swap plugs whether on warrentee reasons or not?

Because the re-embursement by PCNA to the dealer for warranty work is less. For all car companies this is the case. Not Fair but that is whaty happens

I just had my spark plugs replaced and I was charged 5 hours labor. Is this right? Can the dealership charge what they want or are there fixed hours. The above post says the labor is only 1.8 hours. Please advise.

I was told, they have to charge what the computer says, if it takes less time to bad for you, if it takes longer to bad for them.

5 hours!!! Lord, did they pull the motor??? I can do it in 45 minutes. Pull the bumper, pull the shields and pull the coils. Re install.

In regards to heat range. You will want to update to the 6s, the originals in the 01 were 5's. I also would warn you not to try Platinum +4s. The turbos DO NOT LIKE these!

should I assume that they have incorrectly charged me? I have never trusted them! Who should I report them to for a formal complaint?

Also, from doing a search, I have found there is a TSB for 01 Turbos spark plugs. Does anyone know the exact bulletin # for this. I called my dealer and asked, and the service manager was not aware of this. Thanks again.

I've datalogged Upsolute, both at the dyno and on my laptop... the AF/s were spot on for Turbo applications.

Here's an old dyno of my old Upsolute on stock K16s... you can see the AF:
