NEW Solution for Broken Axles

Our long awaited 300M axle kit is now complete and ready for abuse. Details are listed below or can be found on our website: EVO 300M Website Link

EVOMS 300M Axel Kit

Applications: 964 – 965 – 993 – 993TT – 996TT – GT2 – GT3 – GT3R – 997TT

Our direct replacement axel kit was engineered to withstand the most extreme conditions without failure. One of the most failure-prone components is the CV cage that retains the ball bearings in the assembly. EVO 300M half shafts utilize billet chromoly cages that have been designed to handle increased torque and shock loading using a combination of superior material, geometry, and heat treatment. The center bar connecting the CV joints is often the next item to fail. OEM bars besides being made out of lower grades of material often have many features that turn into stress risers as power levels are turned up. Our axles shafts themselves are billet 300M that is machined, heat treated, and cryogenically treated to -300ΒΊF to ensure the highest combination of strength and ductility. 300M is used in military aerospace and demanding racing applications that require the very best.

Our indestructible axel kit is a must for all cars that are used in ΒΌ mile events as well as cars competing on the road course. Our solution is stronger than the OEM racing axels available from PMS at a fraction of the price. Additionally, we guarantee them for the life of the vehicle against breakage.

300M Axle Features:
  • Heat treated and cryogenically treated to enhance torsional strength
  • Aircraft quality 300M Alloy
  • Shot peened to increase strength
  • Tortional stress tested to be more than 100% stronger than the OEM axel
300F CV Cage Features:
  • Heat treated, double tempered and cryogenically treated 300 F material for increased strength
  • 2-3 micro polished finish reduces friction and promotes smoother action
  • Added thickness for increased bursting resistance
  • Chamfered for improved operating angles
EVO 300M Torsional Test Results:

EVO 300M Complete Axel Kit Includes:

  • 2 x indestructible 300M axels
  • 4 x 300F improved strength CV cages
  • 24 x stronger CV *****

Thanks guys, I know of a handful of 6-speeders including myself that have been stranded from a broken axle. We will be adding more related products and some other new items up here shortly.

Todd,

These are awesome news.

At the SCCA Nationals in Kansas last month, everybody with a GT3 was pretty scared. A bone stock GT3 and a lightly modified GT2 both broke the axles. These cars broke axles autocrossing.

The 6speed price is phenomenal. Definitely, I'll be looking to get this for the winter.

Thanks for such R&D effort.

kiko is infamous around these parts
Guys,

Please beware that Porsche designed the axles as the weakest link deliberately so they can act as mechanical fuses protectig the most expensive and hard to replae parts such as the gearbox mainshaft and diff. In my HUMBLE opinion I reckon that increasing the shear resistance of the axles exponentially (not just slightly reinforced) the next weakest link will be VERY expensive to replace, reinforcing a mechanical fuse is very tricky and shouldn't be done in more than 25 to 30% which is the safety margin used in aircraft industry (auto industry uses 50% SM as weight is not so much an issue) using the parts own safety margin...

This obviously does not apply to the cases N-GT referred (of the GT3 and GT2 breaking an axle AXing) this was probably fatigue on an already defective part.

Kiko,

You are correct regarding the OEM axle being the designed weak link. We do recommend upgrading other components along with the axle kit as well. I will be posting more information about these items shortly. IMHO, it is ridiculous that most of the 996TT came equipped with an open differential. The differential upgrade is another very important step in this equation.

Well my mechanic notes the same thing. Currently using a PMS LSD and 'if the axle doesn't break maybe the pinion will' which is $$$$.
Spoke w/ Todd at Protomotive who has some 300M axles which use a modified outboard stub which is supposed to be even better than the GT2 ones and at $2200 a set sounds like a good deal (3K for GT2 axles). Interestingly the factory axles are supposed to be good till 600-700rwhp...so long as you avoid wheel hop.
Need to decide on going stock again and be safe vs stronger axles.

I've got the EVOMS axles and a Guard cup car billet/chome moly diff. With the strength of the beefed up GT2 tranny with steel synchros, I think that I'm good to go.
