Who makes/offers the lightest (weight) 18" wheels

I certainly like the Kinesis. HRE, etc.. wheels. However, I figure if I am going to spend a few thousand+ dollars on some wheels I might as well find the ones that are extremely lightweight to minimize rotational mass.

I have no idea if the Ruf, Sportec, Artec, etc.. wheels are light....I just know that they look great!!

Has anybody ever compared the brands to see who makes the lightest?

I presonally prefer an 18" 6 spoke or 10 spoke wheel; preferably 9" wide up front and 11" in the rear.

This is your chance to post some pics and share some knowledge!
Thx.

I felt the same when replacing my hollow spokes on my C2. I wanted to go with something as light if not lighter. I went with a set of Kinesis K28's and found them a bit lighter than the same size hollow spokes. Kinesis and Fikse wheels are pretty light, also take a look at BBS. From what I have seen the HRE's are a bit heavier, though their new "Competition" series should be lighter. I also understand that the RUF and Techart wheels are some of the heavier ones out there. Magnesium wheels are some of the lightest, but also more expensive and really better suited to the track.

I've got the BBSs on the race car. Incredibly light and very strong. Love em.

As long as your crew chief doesn't drop any of them on the ground , the paint is very durable too.

On the HREs, I'm not quite sure what to think. They look fantastic on the car. But, three of mine were chipped on day 1 when the monkeys with air guns put on the tires. Part of the problem is undoubtedly the (lack of) attention to detail by your average monkey with an air gun. Not very many detail-oriented people operate air guns all day long.

But, I think part of the problem may also be the size of the HRE bolt hole and paint that seems to be on par with the paint Porsche uses on the front bumper (i.e., paint that chips if you look at it wrong).

Just my $0.02, and your mileage may vary.

i'd probably say Kinesis is currently the lightest out of what I sell.

Thanks for all the great feedback. The problem I see with the BBS magnesium is that it looks like it only comes in 19" diameters. I figure that if I am spending all that money, I wouldn't want my car to handle worse with tiny sidewalls, so I am sticking with 18" diameter wheels. Otherwise that would probably work well.

Lee2375- You say the Kinesis is the lightest wheel you sell. What other brands do you offer so I know which ones are heavier?

Thx.

Lee2375 (Peter) has awesome service by the way. In my experience, a real straight shooter and good to deal with.

Cary, Do you run the magnesium on the street or just the track? I would also assume those are 18's, not 19's.

BBS mag's come in 18's, but as everyone else said they are expensive and very light but mostly suited for the track. You should call Fikse and Kinesis and tell them what you would like and se if they can give you a weight.
www.fikse.com
www.kinesismotorsport.com

and I plan on visiting Kinesis this weekend they are only 20 miles from my house, so I might be able to get some weights for you.

And somewhere I heard that Kinesis is coming out with a really light weight wheel. I think they had it at the SEMA show.
