torsional rigidity of the 996tt
I think I read somewhere that the 996tt has the highest torsional rigidity of any production sports car. Is this true? I assume that the more torsionally rigid a car is, the better its handling characteristics.

I have a reinfoced Mustang, with a welded roll cage and
welded subframe connectors etc, and when I jack one
end up, it flexes more than the 996tt. I have a stiff suspension
in my 996tt, and if I drive onto a speed bump at an angle, the
opposite front wheel lifts off the ground. This chassis is vey
stiff.

You can add the stiffness very easily. Added a TechArt torsion bar between the two shock towers up front. Also added a rear torsion bar in addition to tying the rear shocks together with the roll bar! If I angle down a driveway, the tire will lift.

i have a caged 993TT for ORR, and wonder how else to increase chassis stiffness, will a bar between the shock towers help?

definately, it'd be smart to do in the rear as chad mentioned also. Just make sure that they use a strong material.
