Excellent post. If I move to a turbo soon, I'm seriously considering doing this immediately! One of the things that I'm less than pleased with on my C4S is that it is too grounded and thus somewhat 'boring' to drive. I came out of an NSX before this so I miss the rear end pushing me around and getting a little sideways sometimes....

One other question, can anyone confirm the LSD on X50 cars? Somebody posted above that they may have one? If so, this may sway my purchase decision towards an X50...

Do you know the code for LSD. I assume the code can be found under the hood? Otherwise is there a particular part number on the tranny?

I was under the impression that LSD was only option on Euro models only?

I can look it up for you. I don't know it off the top of my head. It will be on the hood sticker.

You could always order it. I actually got a reman to replace a csutomers 2nd gear issue car and upgraded it to both the X50 steel syncros and LSD

Thanks Stephen!

You have answered another curiosity for me as well. The fact that X50 cars come factory with STEEL SYNCROS. I guess that's the "stronger" part of the X50 tranny equation. I have heard many people claim that steel syncros were reseved for the GT2...

It seems that the reason Porsche does not feel it necessary to fit all their cars with with LSD is the fact that they use ABD "active brake differential". Basically an extetion of traction control/PSM that selectively brakes the slipping wheel duplicating LSD. I wonder if turning off PSM turns of ABD?

I had a similar setup to ABD on my Toyota Landcuiser (current model) and the thing was absolutely invincible off road. Might as well have been full lockers.
