You can start by removing the driveshaft and see how it goes.

I read a few post a week or so ago where it was posted you can't do the RWD conversion up on the tip cars. I have a tip and was going to ask that question when someone beat me to it. I'll see if I can find it.

Found it back about ten pages or so. It was from PorschePhd (Imagine Auto). he said can't be done on the tip; too many sensors. It was under the heading "RWD conversion"

Yip, but Stephen is refering to pulling the driveshaft for the dyno, I personally don't know what is exactly under the front, but it might be different if the diff is pulled, Stephen might be refering to some kinda sensors in realation to the driveshafts.

So, anyone with a Tip, feel free to pull the shafts and diff, then see what happens!

Stephen said he would do it for free on someone's Tip

I will pull it if someone wants. Just bring it up. Don't lynch me though if it shells!

On a serious note Stephen, what is the worst thing that could happen here?

I suspect it would just lay over in limp mode and throw errors.

Sorry. No Tip here.

I will tell you that when I pulled the driveshaft on my 6 Speed last year, most people (except Speed Gallery) were telling me to expect all sorts of PSM and code issues. It turned out that it was all BS. The car runs great and the PSM works just fine.

Stephen is probably one of the most knowledgeable people here. I'm sure he's 100% accurate about tips not dynoing.

Just pull the the driveshaft and find out. It's 100% reversible and won't cause any serious issues. I bet the car won't even know.

I just wish I was over your way Stephen, I would pop my car into you!

Callin' all Tip owners, there must be someone out there that wants to do this mod.
Stephen has kindly offered to help out!

Hi Guys,

Just bought a 996 Turbo Tip. Has anyone done a 2wd conversion on a 996 Turbo tip yet?
Would appreciate the help.

Regards,
Darsey
