Buying a car out of state?
#31
Congrats! Now comes the hard part....
Regarding shipping, I contacted Fedex, and they wanted $1800 and had up to a 20 day delivery time. I also contacted Interstate and they wanted about the same. I also talked to the dealer and they put me in touch with the folks they use regularly and they were able to get the car to me in about 11 days for $1500 (this was from Alabama). Be sure to get a quote for 'enclosed shipping' - all those $900 quotes have your car out in the elements

Yeah these things always seem like they should go smooth, but you really never know. I used to buy cars from out of state and we would do half the $ up front, then all the lien and contract paperwork faxed as well as a signed title faxed. The hard copies all put in the car by the shipper when he picks it up, along with the shipping contract info. When I get the car and there aren't any surprises i sent the rest. This has worked, but there is also escrow and the in person option. Communication is key and always make SURE you're comfortable all the way!
Good luck and congrats!
