DO you drive your Turbo in the snow?
With a set of dedicated snow wheels/tires... how is it? Obviously clearence in the big factor, but other than that what's it like? It actually seems like a pretty decent contender

Joe-G,
Do a Search on posts by a member named 'Pierre'. He's got in excess of 200k on the clock and most of it seems to be in the snow. He's got a great write up and a bunch of pix about snow driving.
Good luck

I have driven mine in the snow plenty of times with no problems on summer tires. Just don;t drive crazy. Be smart and you will be safe. Prior to the 996TT I drove Corvette's year 'round without problems as well. The only real problem is when it snows more the 4"+ and the car is too low to the ground.

I drive mine everyday and plan to keep driving it until the wheels fall off. we get a couple days a year of snow and i leave her in the garage. the car does fine, but my opponents on the road make me nervous!

Pierre's legend has gotten bigger than reality. To be sure, he has put a LOT of miles (200K kilometers) on his car and does drive in the snow. I don't know if "most of it is in the snow"
Seems to me, he's the perfect 911 turbo driver. Get one, drive it everyday, everywhere. By then a new model has come out. Rinse and repeat.
How about them Cowboys?

Ive had my turbo for 3 months now. I was going to drive it in the winter months but I reconsidered. I dont want the abuse from the dirty roads and ignorant drivers sliding into my car. so I bought a hoopty. A 1996 A6 avant. pristine condition for 4k! I would of spent 1k for winter tires alone for the 911. this is the more logical route for me.

i had an 03 996tt and i have an 07 997 turbo. i put winter tires on both turbos, obviously haven't driven the 997tt in the snow yet, but i can tell you that the 996tt with winter tires drove great in 6" or less. for more, i used my cayenne. it's an awd car, it cost big bucks-my advice is to use it's potential-for what i pay for these, i intend to use them daily.
