Contortionist

Anyone try to squeeze into the back seat area with a techequipment harness rollbar installed??? I tried it yesterday when I needed to change out the stock rear leg bolts with stronger aftermarket grade 8 bolts. When I removed the old bolts, the legs moved out of alignment....which sux in a huge way. I needed to be able to get some leverage in order to use one hand to push the leg back into alignment, while the other hand threads the bolt...I felt the only way to get leverage was to somehow squeeze in the back. I slid the GT3 seats all the way forward and squeezed in by sitting on the garage floor and feeding my legs in first, sideways until I was able to squeeze my boby in. Once I was in, I found that I could barely move, so any added leverage was out of the question...pretty funny in the midst of all the explitives coming out of my mouth. I did not want to remove the seats in order to get access. What to do... Ultimately, I cut a 12" piece of wood and used it as a wedge between the front and rear legs. This got the rear leg back into alignment and the bolts went in without incident.

The funny thing is, my chest feels like I was pummled my Mike Tyson for a few rounds. Apparently I was really squeezed during the process. Talk about Porsche insanity!!!! Thought those who have installed the TE rollbar would get a good laugh out of that one...

PS: Oh by the way, I am 6'7", perhaps I should join the circus as a contortionist!!! LMAO

If your's is difficult at your size, mine would be impossible. Just ask sharkster, he can over the other day and removed my rear windshield wiper motor.

rockitman, why did you replace the bolts? did the other ones fail. I just installed Darios old Tequiptment bar and it wasn't nearly as hard as everyone said. I did it in about 4 hours by myself. It was a little hard on the back though, just getting in and out of the car.

If you look at the bolt heads on the stainless bolts, they are quite thin in my opinion as compared to the aftermarket ones. If there was a roll over, I feel the heads would be subject to sheering off with the forces put on the roll bar. That was one of the motivating factors of why I changed them to grade 8's(The bolt head on the replacements are almost 1/2" in thickness). The other factor was that the 2 1/2" bolt required that 1/2 inch spacer...I noticed a clanging sound of the bolt hitting either the spacer or the hole in the rollbar leg when I hit bumps in the road. There seemed to be a little play in there I could not get rid of. I replaced the 2 1/2" stock bolt with a 2 inch grade 8. I also have the same bolts for the front legs, 3" in length.

ROFL, I was hoping my wife wouldn't accuse me of having an affiar:P

Your bar is even more difficult (the DAS Sport?) than the Porsche one to get theough. At least yours seems much more sturdy and functional tho...

Rockitman...

I am 6'5" and interested in getting GT3 seats for my C4S. I see you are 6'7".

How do you like the seats (with the Brey-Krause adapters) for headroom, legroom and thigh support?
