What cars, overall...are really better than the Porsche Turbos?

I love the TT. I am in the market for one soon (move up from my 996 C2 cab). I think the SL55/SL65 is one hell of a performer as well. Aston Martin also makes a gorgeous, sexy car but it won't come close in performance.

modding the brakes and suspension is easy and not as expensive as a bmw and or P car...
It actually can hang with a P car at road courses.... stock...
for $2500 u have 400 awd HP...
ist cheap to do the motor... heads are $2000 and lower end is $3500 with parts... u can put on any combo of turbo kits... depending on ur driving needs... u can run a stand alone.... $1800...
what else do u need to know?
just my opinion guys... Im sure there are many other options better then this car..

Scott your point of view is exactly like mine. I too now realize how amazing Porsche's are, like BMW with being interactive with its driver and useability but just more sport's car oriented!!
Fact is, the turbo is the best bang for the buck, great looks, handling, acceleration, modding capability, price, braking you name it! Oh yea, RELIABILITY is insane haha

I can't think of any other car that has the versatilty of the TT:
-All wheel drive is MUCH more forgiving than RWD which is key for a Daily Driver
-You don't have to constantly "drive it like it was stolen" like a Lambo
-Reliability is un-paralleled compared to other "super cars"
-Modability is seemingly endless (sometimes I'm not so sure this a good thing? )
-I can't think of any other 650 hp car that I can beat the crap out of on a canyon run, not die, then pick up my girfriend and go Christmas shopping AND have room for all the packages.
At the end of the day you can do anything with or to this car, it does whatever you need, depending on skill level. It grows with you. Oh, and it looks really really cool
What can I say, I'm in love.......

Well if I thought there was better all around sports car, I would be hanging out at that forum. For me it's all about the driving and how the car makes me feel when I drive. I am just coming back from the dark side (Corvette) after realizing I liked driving my 540i (sport) more than my "sports car". A lot of cars can be made to generate the numbers but few have that intangable ability to really engage the driver. P-cars have always had that, Ferraris do as well but usually are less reliable.

I really doubt you can beat a Z06 for everyday driveability, low service cost and pure performance. It weighs 3,150 lb! is it a throw away car? Absolutely. But who cares when you can lease one for 3 years, beat the snot out of it and give it back. All the while under warranty. You would need a stage 4 car with suspension and a voided warranty to even try keeping up.
The Porsche has it's handling quirks due to the extreme rear weigh bias and is a very unsatisfying car to launch hard and with any degree of repeatability. The AWD is nothing more than a hindrance IMO. Nothing is perfect.
That said, I have a TT in my garage. It's the best combination for my wants today. But that doesn't make me blind. Just stupid.

What a coincidence that 3 posters have mentioned the Z06. I got my first kill in my new GT2 the other day against a Z06. He blew by me on the freeway and then let me catch up.
I caught up at 80, dropped down to 4th (at about 4.5K rpm...right at the beginning of the sweet spot) and let him get the jump. I blew by him in an instant and pulled 5 car lengths by the time I was doing 130. I shifted to 5th and let the engine slow me down again to 80. He caught up, I shifted down to 4th and annihilated him again. This was all done in low boost.
Good times.

Hard to argue Scott's point. He covered all bases and made it clear that he is not blinded by Porsche. There are other cars that will satisfy one's needs that a P-car can't. Factoring all of what Scott needs/wants in a car, TT is the only way to go.

M3 lol...
I think the M3 is great for the younger guys, imo the turbo should be had by at least 25+ year olds. Other then that they are both great cars (the TT is far more expensive new), obviously the turbo starts modifications (pricey!) easier but for the same price the M3 can make very similiar power. Other then that the 997tt and M3 are my favorite practical cars!
