After 8 days of sitting battery is weak! Why? Normal?

Both the red and yellow top Optima batteries are the same width as stock but are not as long. You will need to purchase a conversion hold down system or do like I did and make your own. I used the stock hold down bolts and fabricated a strap system to secure the Optima in place. It only took a few minutes and I had the strap on hand. Im not sure how long it will last but the yellow top is the same one I use in my small boat and I troll (65 lb/trolling motor) for hours with no drain. I would guess it would last for months without drain from the P cars. As some have suggested a battery tender may be a good idea.

I noticed a bunch of guys using the small Oddesey batteries... do they hold up?

how are you guys hooking the battery tender products directly to the battery? do you leave the hood cracked open or do you find a way to snake the connector out to point at the base of the windshield?

direct positive hookup to the +side. - body ground around the battery. run the quick connection up and out the side of the plastic covering. run the wires down the side of the weather strip and out the passenger side corner of the hood. simple and easy.

Just an FYI, Bosch makes an exact fit replacement battery that I picked up at Pep Boys. Just to be safe, take you battery with you. The clerk brought out two other Bosch batteries that were the wrong size until he finally got it right.

I use this, about 30 pounds lighter, and with the tender no problems at all....
PS....costs about $80!!! they come charged and so I keep a spare with me.
PPS... the battery drains due to all those tiny monitoring computer thingys not being able to sleep.. Locking the car shuts off alot of these and prolongs intervals between charges, but frankly if the car is going to sit more than several days it needs a tender.
Even my cayenne is dead after a week of sitting.

if you keep a spare, doesn't that negate the weight savings?
yours is a daily driver though, no? i'd be suprised if that tiny battery could sit for any length of time without draining out.

I take the spare to the track with me and on long trips for "just in case"
At the track everything is removed and the back up battery is there if needed.
The car is really only driven to track events and a trailer is on the way.

Well not exactly. it still goes out on Sat nights (you know where in Tampa) and still gets the manditory drive to work several times before a track event.
I drive the car to Sebring events and even Moroso.
The trailer is for Homestead, Road Atlanta and beyond!!
You boys have got to come to an event some time man it would be fun!!
