Ruf RT12, LP 640, Saleen S7 and SLR

translates (abacho.de)

into the topical car Picture issue the following vehicles are compared: Indeed, LP640 - 640 HP SLR - 626 HP of call RT12 - 650 HP Saleen S7 Twinturbo - 750 HP a very nicely written report, disappointed only of the Saleen, he sounds like the hell and looks in as soon as possible, but from 286 km/h drags the Frotlippe about the ground because the carriage produces too much Anpressdruck. Then asks itself how he should reach supposed 380 km/h of V max...... Unfortunately, the generator was also defective, therefore informative test-worth were to be determined nr partly. The LP640 delivers to itself a nice closely packed running with the SLR, ziet on 100 0.6 sec. away, loses this again on 200, on 250 they are absolutely identical and on 300 pulls away to the LP then again 3 Sek, because of the SLR with a cw value of 0.37 from 280 spĆ¼hrbar decreases. However, the absolute hammer is the call RT12, none 10 sec. on 200 needs and the SLR and the LP640 on 300 full 11.5, or 8.5 Sek decreases. The autopicture will try, the Saleen another 1 x to testing to see whether he fulfils the expectations and reaches the work data at least beginning-wise.

Results:

km/h.........LP640 SLR.. RT12
0-100....... 3,3.... 3,9.... 3,4
0-200....... 11,1... 11,1... 9,8
0-250....... 18,5... 18,6... 15,4
0-300....... 33,3... 36,3... 24,8 !!!!

The RT12 is a beast. I had the pleasure of driving one last year on the Autobahn and at 275K it was pulling like crazy. It is a spectacular package.

What about the S7 times?

The S7 wasn't able to reach 300km/h. The front splitter was scraping the runway at 260+km/h (or was it 270+km/h?) due to too much downforce. Maybe it was set up for handling rather than top speed runs. And yes, it was slower than the RT12 from 0-250km/h.

And from what I remember, the LP640 was tested in the dry, and with R-compounds (PZero Corsas) so it's got a slight advantage. The other three were tested in damp condition. Shows you how much of a beast the RT12 is.

EDIT: S7 front splitter scraped the runway at 280+km/h. 0-100 in 4.2s, 0-200 in 11.8s, 0-250 in around 19.xs. Slowest of the four which is kinda surprising (or maybe not).

The RT-12 is very fast. Is falls right in line with many other 650-700 HP cars on this forum.

Scott to the 1/4 mile it might be as fast as many of the 650-700hp cars , but the way it accelerates PAST that is what we need to compare, its a complete animal dont you think?

The 1/4 mile trap is a direct representation of the car's acceleration capabilities all the way to top speed. Not a similar one. A *direct *one.

The cars on that list that trap as high or higher than the RUF will stay with or beat the RUF all the way to their terminal top speeds, and will tie and/or beat it to 300 kph. I guarantee it. It's not like the RUF has magical properties that make it accelerate harder past 150 than the other cars. That's hype. It's all about HP, torque, weight, gearing and aero. Other high HP P-cars have everything the RUF does in this regard, but some have even more power/torque.

Yes..I think it's animal. I love the thing. It's a 650 HP Porsche that is a actually making 650+ HP. It's a gorgeous, outrageous supercar. But all Porsche Turbos are animals at that level. Not just the RUF's.

I see where you are coming from, just from the testing i have seen, it pulls even harder up past that but again, we havent had any testing with our very own 6speed animals!

I will dyno my car, do some runs with other cars and see where it is at at this level, i hear its extremely underrated but will leave all speculation up to the proof! Stay tuned

I know your excited about your car...but there is no "under-rating. It's all BS, and has been proven by trap speeds. It makes just what it's supposed to.

Tell you what...take your car to the dragstrip when you get it...and I'll post what I think your time and trap will be before you post the results. I bet I'll be within 2/10's and 2 mph of what you're best run will be...by simply using your rated crank HP and your weight. No dyno #'s needed.

Look at it this way; if RUF is so infallable...why is that Silversurfer's RUF is now MUCH faster than it was before now that Kevin at Ultimate Motorwerks modded it?

It's not magic, Martin. It's HP, TQ, weight, gearing and aero....and it's always predictable.

I will agree, but only when comparing cars with similar bodystyles, engine layout (front, rear, etc) and transmission (FWD, RWD, AWD). After 120 aerodynamics and gearing gets into the equation throwing out weight and off the line traction.

The ruf time on your list was made on an unused road near pfaffenhausen which i use often (my 16 year old brother is using it to learn how to drive the r turbo on it) which is not the best of surface, i.e a bit broken and crappy.

Also how many of the cars on the list use drag radials? Im sure that would make a difference for the time (not sure of the trap speed though-please advise?)

I think 1/4 mile trap speeds are interesting but its not the end of the story. For instance trap speed wont ever say if a car will run at 200mph all day long, which a ruf will (believe me i know) that cant be said for every modded car.

just my two penneth (or cents )
all the best

The RT12 comes with two different options in the gear ratio, one that is more focused on top speed and the other that accelerates quicker. The huge advantage to the RT12 is that the car has great traction on the street without slicks and will run the same numbers it runs on the track on the street with street tires, most of the cars mentioned above must be running DR drag radials and have much better 60fts.
