We would also like to get our hands on a 996TT and we're planning on having that car run just as fast.

Bellos' car was quite far from all this, and especially the one that ran 165mph I believe? Weight must have been what, 2000 lbs max. , narrowbody, I am sure special gearing + Diff, diff wheels, front 145 tires, purpose built suspension etc..
Basically what I am trying to say is, great achievement by Bellos and no one can take any credit from it, but not really what many of us amateurs would call a street Porsche. like Joe's car or some other 993s that I know are
Is there a way to get a copy of that drag slip? It woul be interesting to see the intermediary speeds and time, that thing must do a 60-130 in less than 5s I am sure on slicks.
When you say low boost, it is 2 Bar? And what weight please. Thanks

As far as gearing with the old car it was nothing special, it didn't weigh 2000 pounds, if the car did it would be hitting high seven second times if you did the calculations at the power the car had.
We have a couple parts still coming in, once everything is complete with the car we will go to a test and tune session to run the car and see whats the fastest it'll go.
Though I have a video of 60-150mph and it took about six seconds. This was low boost.

But then, as Jean said...props to Eddie, but I don't consider that a true street car. It's a pretty much a purpose built drag car that's street legal. Completely different animal.

You may, but again most of the people here use their cars almost on a daily basis. I would guess that car is not used daily? If it is then props to you guys. I agree with Scott that to have a car you drive daily that runs 10's or soon can run in the 9's is totally different than a car built to just run the dragstrip.

The "Term" True Street Car" can be very fragile, Bellos back on the day used to drive from Jersy to Florida run 9s and drive back, all that on Toyo drag radials, now if we are talking about "True Street Car" with DVD, AC and so on then is not a "Street Car" but the again if you go by the rules of the NHRA Sport Rear Wheel Drive ( our class) then we are all legal.
With todays rules @ 3500 I don't see anyone not even Mr. Bellos could break that record, I weight 2900 with me in, the class calls for 3500pnds, last time we had to add 600pnds! the car was a tank, end result a broken gear box and a tag of $3500 to fix it, and there went my $1,000 custom made spool.
However it could be interesting to gather everyone together and make it simple.
D.O.T Drag Radial
1 Power adder only
Single / TT Turbo/ supercharge
Now, that could be a challenge Thats the same rule I presented to NHRA but they wanted to slow the supras, not only they stop them, they kill the class.

If you drive it on the street, and its registered and lisenced its a street car. If the thing is back-halfed, tubbed, gutted, and on a 10 day permit, then its not. Why does everyone get so defensive on this situation? If its got a plate, and its insured, its a street car. Just because someone choses to gut their car, put a cage in it, and run 1 full second quicker then you ever have, doesn't give you the right to complain and say "well mine has leather, airbags, a stereo, blablabla" good for you. You're still slower at the end of the day. As they say, run what ya brung.
As for a 996TT running in the 8's within the next few months, good luck, but I don't think some of you realize what it takes to go 8's. It's a pretty cocky thing to say that you are going to bring out a brand new car first time, and run faster then Eddie's old time. But as I said, good luck.

As far anyone running 8's...no one in this thread claimed they would run 8's. Nor has anyone claimed that they will beat 9.17 @ 145. What was claimed was just the opposite...that no one will beat 9.17 with a regular street car anytime soon. You might want to go back and re-read the posts again.

The car in the picture and your avatar, is a narrowbody Carrera (1990-1993) that has been turbocharged, not a (widebody) 1994 964 C2T.
The car has the LW Volk wheels, sunroof seems to be gone (or still there?), FG aero mirrors which tell me that the doors are carbon fiber most likely (why bother otherwise) and they have LW RS door panels, the front light washer nozzles are gone, so the water pump is not there either, the rear wiper and motor too, the rear deck is a CF 993TT gutted wing, so there is no more the heavier Carrera wing (up and down at 40mph) mechanism, the rain gutters have the aerodynamic kit on them, etc etc.. certainly seems to be much lighter than stock (2970 lbs stock), and this is only what I can see from the picture alone.
The car is hanging like an SUV on its suspension, to raise the center of gravity and increase substantially mass transfer to the rear wheels upon launch, etc etc.. What I am trying to say is that when someone goes into this level of detail it means he is very serious about drag racing Porsche cars, and no way he would leave weight close to stock as you mentioned.
On an aircooled engine low boost and pump gas is no more than 1 Bar (IMO). I would expect this car to have run at least 1.4-1.5 Bars for that trap speed, I hope it was not 93 octane pump gas Taking it to 2000 lbs would most likely not put you at 7s ET but rather higher trap speed since grip will still not be there.
Care to share (in private if you wish) some of your AX22/DL1 datalogs? I see that you have the GPS antenna clamped on the roof.
Cheers

I appoligize in advance!!!
Eddie Bello is a piece of ****! Even from back in days of street racing, in his
Rx7. The only car that ran well was his, with everybody elses parts .
Believe me I know! Thats a crying shame because he is talented . Just
dont let him touch you car . I promised myself when ever is saw this name,
I would tear it up! I wouldn't want any 6 speedster to go through what i did!
Back to his car, the car was an animal, very impressive & was tuned to
the extreme! I know that a "street car" has a different definition to diff
people! To me that acar wasn't tolerable for "most people" on this board
for street! this car should have been towed from place to place, but Eddie
being cheap drove it!
