What are KKK K64 turbos
I'm new to the forum and have a newbie question for you. I was reading the Porsche brochure about the 996 TT -S and it says
" Holstered in parallel on either side of the engine, the KKK K64 turbos each serve a separate cylinder bank with up to 12.3 psi of intercoooled boost that is virtually linear in progression".
I've read about the X50 having K24 instead of the K18 turbos. Does the S have something different or is this a K24 just worded different. I was also wondering why the X50 claims 450 HP and the S claims 444 HP? Are these the same turbos?

K27's and K29's are popular for the single turbo aircooled Porsche crowd.
stock 996TT (and 993TT) are K16's (not interchangable)
X-50, Turbo S, and GT2 all came with the K-24's.
Most of the high performance tuners base their High performance
turbos on a K24 and then use a larger turbine or just go to a
larger Garrett ball bearing turbos.
K16 == bad, K24 == ok, K24/K26 == better,
GT35R's == efffing Kick-***...

Luckily i found a picture of the K64 turbo, what ever you do, dont tell Alex. Also, you need a car that revs to about 20,000 to get it to spool

Does a GT35R mount up like a K24 or is a different manifold required? I have used dual ball bearing turbos on all of my cars thus far and the performance additive is astounding compared to a traditional turbo. I'd like to do the same for the TT when i finally pull the trigger on one.
