Official Turbo Weight Loss Thread/ Lightest Turbo List
#527
UPDATED
Well, I listed things (thanks to all of you) that I'm firstly gonna do :
RWD Conversion - 71 lbs
Battery - 25 - 30 lbs
GT3 Seats - 60 - 65 lbs
Spare Tire and stuff - 40 lbs
Rear Wiper - 4 lbs
Tilton LWFW And clutch - 35 lbs
Removal of rear seats and stuff - 22 lbs
Subwoofer Removal - 12 lbs
Clutch actuator - 50 lbs
Lightweight Wheels & Tyres - 20 lbs
Straight Pipes - 55 lbs
Front Bumper Supports - 20 lbs
Mechanism for the rear wing that goes up - 30 lbs
GT2 Carbon wing - 15 lbs
Around 430 - 445 lbs loss. That would be pretty close to 3000 lbs
After those, I'll be installing Gt2 carbon body kit parts, brakes, carbon hood, carbon fenders & quarter panels and carbon doors eventually..
Those should save me another 100 - 150 lbs I guess. Time will show
By the way, I've nowhere here to weigh the car, so I gotta ask, I've been reading different things about the stock 996tt weight, some says 3495 lbs, some 3380 some 3340. Which one is true ?

Well, I listed things (thanks to all of you) that I'm firstly gonna do :
RWD Conversion - 120 lbs (I've been reading around 70 lbs, but Scott told he lost 120 lbs, with what difference?)
Battery - 30 lbs
GT3 Seats - 35 lbs
Spare Tire and stuff - 40 lbs
Rear Wiper - 4 lbs
LWFW And clutch - 30 lbs
Removal of rear seats - around 10 lbs
Subwoofer Removal - 12 lbs
Clutch actuator - 7 lbs
Wheels & Tyres - 20 lbs
Straight Pipes - 50 lbs
Hopefully, I'm gonna lose around 350 lbs after all of these for the 1st step. Than some carbon body kit parts, brakes etc..
What you guys think and have any more suggestions?

that or maybe your diff was made from cheap Chinese cast aluminum with many voids, hence why it broke

i have an 01 so no glove box, and no it wasent stock when i weight it in. I had straight pipes and other light weight mods like battery and i cant recall what else at the moment.
I do want to do wheels, but that will be my last mod along with lighter roters. We will see. Like I said, i will report back my weight withmy current mods.
my goal is 3000 lbs with 550bhp in terms of weight and horse power.

If by Scott you mean Divvextreme, I'm pretty sure he corrected that estimate. A regular RWD conversion is only 71 lbs or so. Unless you replace the rest of the diff with something different 120 lbs is impossible. Would be wonderful though!!!

Yes, he's the one. I'm sure I read about it yesterday I do not know if he corrected it or not. Maybe he can confirm on that topic

On the low end, I think some custom tuning would get it done with some really good IC's, and a few other here and there mods. On the high end I'll have to go hybrid turbos though I really want to stay with K24's.

520 rwhp. I honestly need a back to back RWD AWD test to know the difference in hp. I do not think it will be more than 3-5% difference in whp, IF that much. I could need anywhere from 20-40 whp depending on the difference in hp. But RWD doesn't do it for me so I have to know what the comparable awhp will be. This will be used for competition classing.

I see what you mean, going back to awd will bring you down to around 500 awhp with current setup. so you want to squeeze approx. 40 awhp more to get the same power as before but with awd. I assume you are trying to accomplish this on pump gas? (93?) definitely interested in what you plan on doing once you decide.
