Somebody get this EVO guy to the March 3rd drags. He would make for some good competitive runs.
I checked with a friend which is up on the EVO scene with a realistic and analytical perspective about the mods on the EVO in this thread. Here's what he had to say for what it's worth.
Hmmm, I don't know. I suspect the engine would be capable of nearly 600 hp. Who knows how much nitrous it could handle. A guy locally makes 800 crank with a nitrous engine like that,...but he runs a much bigger turbo. A GT-35R is usually good for 550 hp crank.
I see a guy on the forum making 488 wheel with that turbo on 93 octane and water/meth injection , which would simulate 103 octane, and 30 psi of boost (26 psi absolute). He should run low 11's. Add a 100 shot to that and I'd guess a low to mid 10 would be within easy reach if the driver could shift through 5 gears fast enough. MAYBE a very high 9,...but I seriously doubt it.
Car seems more setup for track. 14" big brake kit, big swaybars, Tein coilovers etc. Not the type of stuff guys have in 8 and 9 sec cars.

I dynod 640 AWHP in hight boost(37 psi) on C16 ( NO NOS) 1/4 RUN 10.2 SEC.
at 20 psi I dynod 391 AWHP.... on pump gas...
it did 456 AWHP at 25 psi...
if this guy is on anything over 25 psi you guys dont have a chance...

Evo Ix
Guess who just got an EVO IX to satisfy the HP withdrawals after selling the GT2 GT700?
Me! Let me tell you guys, it may be a "rice-rocket", and I may look like I'm 16 driving it, but who gives a ****, this is one of the most fun cars I have driven in a long time and it has back seats and back doors for the kids. It has unbelievable grip with the AWD and R-compounds from the factory and the short gearing keeps you totally involved...a real *****'n econorocket!
I took it to a buddy of mine's shop, Batlground Engineering, and we put it on his dynojet to see what kind of power it made and how much we could improve with just tuning. Bone stock it made 253 AWHP and 250 AWTQ. With just tuning, a stronger wastegate actuator, and a Greddy Profec-B to turn up the boost a little, we made 309 AWHP and 301 AWTQ. Within a couple of weeks, I will uncork the factory exhaust and change the cams...the car should make 360-370 AWHP and similar AWTQ...on pump gas...this can be done for pennies (compared to Porsche tuning ) and it will run with a 996TT!
Don't worry, I haven't left, I am actively looking for a replacement GT2 since one of my businesses is under contract to be sold.

Yeah there is def no 8 sec EVO in AZ, let alone Flagstaff. We built this EVO and he lives in Flag...is this one your talking about. It is fast, but not 8sec. Maybe a low 11.

Well i just read page 3...yeah that is the EVO we built. Not 8sec even with the nitrous, but it is much faster then yours Rob. However that thing does not spool for a while even with the 2.4L. So you could put early hurt on him. However we can change that you win all together I have dynoed both cars on our dyno here.
"In the Left Corner... Rob's RWD 450+WHP Porsche 996TT"
"And in the Right Corner, Tom's 575+ WHP EVO VIII"
