I blew my MAF

I blew my MAF
Hey guys, I know this has been discussed and have read several threads, but still need some help.
I have the EVO Stage 4 for about 1 10,000 miles and blew my MAF a few days ago. The dealer is charging me about $500 to replace and said it isn't under warranty because of my EVO air filter.
Should I expect to blow the MAF on a regular basis? I really don't want to screw around with my car in the shop all the time for what? 10HP?
I'm wondering if I should just put the stock air filter back on or is there something that won't blow the MAF? I thought I read something about EVO coming out with something more dependable, but don't see anything on their web page.
I want max power, but I hate, hate , hate having my car in the shop!

Man another one, hmm this is weird. Some people either have the issue or dont/ BTW 500 for a MAF from the dealr is a RIPOFF, i think they are 250-300! If this just happened in 10k miles with it on you said? I would replace it and it should last a while, usually people blow one then they are set after a new one is installed, but not all of the time!
Either way sucks to hear man, i didnt have an issue with mine :/

Buy your own MAF here:

I think about $240. About the V-flow...I took mine out and have not had a problem. I blew 3 with the V-flow. I'm using the UMW (Sportec) intake now.

I would get the UMW Sportec intake as wross996TT has. I think Kevin also has a new MAF setup as well. He is using it in his new 3a and 3b kits. You may want to email him and see if he is selling this seperately.

If you still have the security torx wrench that came with the V-flow intake then just buy the MAF sensor and do it yourself. It is really easy. From what I have seen it should cost $200-250 for the new sensor. You should be good for a while then. I have never replaced my MAG yet, but I had one go out on my Boxster at around 35,000 miles. I think these are just a problem no matter how you look at it and will be something to replace occasionally until the tuners come up with a better system.

I believe that EVO is now selling their MAF fix new housing. I have had a prototype of theirs on my car for 3 months now with out any problems! I blew 3 MAFs in a month after I got my 640 kit. Now the MAF works perfect!

I also have the EVO air filter. Anytime I hear something that could be a stumble I get concerned.
