How to deal with winter hibernation
So I finallly find the car I wanted at a price I can llive with. I do the deal and drive my beautiful new car home to Connecticut from Pittsburgh (Bobby Rahal's Aston Martin dealership) way too fast on the rainy day after Christmas.
We have decent weather for a week or two and I drive my 2003 996TT to work every day. Then the weather changes and our local DOT crew decides we need more salt on the roads.
Since then most days have been warm and dry enough to drive, but I am not a big fan of mixing road salt with the finish of my car. So it sits in the garage waiting for a good street-cleaning rain.
Other than keep the battery maintainer plugged into the cig lighter and blathering on with you all here, what else can I do? HELP!!!!!

Thanks to all for support - I feel like a six step cure...
I bought the car box stock - but heavily factory optioned - all factory CF, NAV, silver paint, black leather interior with red stitching and red seat belts, etc. Nice looking. Came with only 6,000 original miles.
On the first day I put about 600 miles on it. Two weeks later I had a short shift kit installed. Now I am considering my next step - sure would like to lower it similar to my 993 Cab I have for sale. Then, I don't know, my shop (Performance Outfitters in Stamford, CT) wants me to do a stage 4 with turbos, exhaust, intake, DV, etc. He's hot to trot but hasn't yet told me the cost. But I think I'd like to put more miles on and get to know the car better before I build it up.
In the cold and salty winter months ahead I will continue to read and reread the owners manual and listen to the advice offered here.
And yes, Tom Kerr, I do sit in the garage looking at how beautiful this car is and thinking about all the things I can do to and with it.

Being in Minnesota, my next garage will have Wirsbo in floor garage heat.
Drive cars in with wet tires, and slush dripping off them, and in the morning
the floor is dry again!
Right now it is 10 degrees F in my garage.

Start it once a week and let it warm up, sit it in after warm and admire!
Start saving your money and making your mod list, but skip Stage 4 and go right to GT700 that is where we all end up anyways!

YNOTFAST,
I live in Connecticut too! Redding. Ive had my TT since september 06. I drove it daily upto the second week of Jan 07. Since then, I am Jonesing badly to drive it. Roads are way too salted and sanded. So the car will hibernate until we get some rain to wash the roads. every night, I go into the garage and admire! I spray it down daily with a quick detailer even though she is spotless. I'll start it up and listen to the Cargraphic exhaust while it rumbles my house! intoxicating. Can't wait for winter to be over!
