Wheel Weight: OEM vs Aftermarket
After reading the weight loss thread, I wanted to put up a thread documenting both factory and aftermarket wheels and their respective weight for people looking to swap wheels. Here are the specs for the OEM wheels.
Feel free to add to the list with weights of wheels for the Turbo/GT2. Thanks !
Factory 996 Turbo Hollows
8x18" at 22 lbs 2oz
11x18" at 26 lbs 5 oz
Factory 996 Turbo Solids
8x18" at 26 lbs 2 oz
11x18" at 31 lbs 6 oz
Factory GT2 wheels (earlier years, Turbo Solids):
8.5x18" at 28lbs 11 oz
12x18" at 33 lbs 0 oz
Factory GT2 wheels (later years, GT3 style)
8.5x18" 25 lbs 2 oz
12x18" 29 lbs 0 oz
Factory GT3 wheels
8x18" 22 lbs 10 oz

Suman,
Someone mentioned on another thread that the BBS racing wheels gave a lot of trouble at the track and needed frequent replacement, Are these one and the same?
Do you have street/track experience with these light little buggers?

It was one of those changes where the difference was obvious immediately.
I need to make make sure that they are durable. My home track is Sebring and very rough. Also I like to go a little over the rumble strips in some corners and must have a wheel that is strong.
thanks for the info. tom

If your buying them for strength dont look at these wheels. I watch pot holes like crazy or these things would be finished. They are not strong at all. the face is but the the light barrels are totally designed for track not street. Im not sure about the magnesiums ( though ive heard better) but the aluminums this is the truth. IMO
