Anything but Conti's.

I've always been partial to Michelins.

Has anyone compared this new Pilot Sport 2 to the Sport Cup? I have the older Pilot Sports and the Sport Cups.

Thanks

For some reason, Pirelli has not produced a Rosso in the OEM 18" Turbo size for the rear. Can anyone explain why in 2004 , Porsche insists on the original 1987 PZero " slip and slide" tread pattern for their Pirelli OEM Turbo spec tire , and not the Rosso which has been out for years and is used on the reg 996 and GT2 as OEM ?
The GT2 OEM tires are Michelin Pilot Sports.

Some came with Rossos in 2002 . In fact, at unveiling, the chassis people say the Pirellis were more " sporting " and they could tell when they drove them vs Michelins w/o looking. Also said the Michelins were quieter initially compared to the Pirellis, but noisier as they wore past 50% tread.

The GT2 I saw at the dealer last week had Rossos. It had the new factory GT3 style wheels so it should be a 2004. The Rossos have rayon sidewalls so they should be relatively smooth and quiet. I think the 315/30 will fit the stock wheel.

I've just started running the new PS2's on my GT2 and they are significantly better than the previous generation Pilot Sports.

The '04 GT2 does also come with Michelin PS2's N-spec -- no more Michelin Pilot Sports.

Ciao
They have been talking and posting estimated availablity dates since December, with no tires...Michelin is f-ed up with the supply on this tire. Better off ordering Yoko AVS sports in that size. May not be quite as sticky as the PS2's but they have a stiffer sidewall, wear longer and have superior wet traction due to the racing rain tread design.

They aslo come in at $350 less for a set. This is what I did with my GT3. Even if you got a set of PS2's eventually...What happens when you get a flat. Tires most likely will be on backorder and you will be dead in the water unless you have another set of wheels with rubber or spare tires lying around....Just my 2 cents
