997GT3 Wheels on a 996TT?
#31
I have silver 997gt3rs wheels on my 01 996tt. 235/35/19 in front no spacers. 315/25/19
in the back with 7mm spacers in the back. I currently have stock suspension on with no rubbing.

wow lots of misinformation. some have the correct info.
allow me to shed some light on this subject as i have an '01 996tt with GT3RS wheels on the car. you can even search and find the pictures (search is your friend).
GT3 or GT3RS wheels can both fit. Both need spacers. The GT3 wheels need a much bigger spacer. The offsets quoted in this post are right and wrong. The factory gets those offsets because they ship the wheels with a 5mm spacer. The GT3RS wheels have no spacers. Also the GT3 (997 vintage) is not a narrow body - it is in fact a wide body. so now that we have correct info let's get to the bottom line.
You need a minimum of a 5mm spacer (on the rears) to get the inner clearance on a 996TT. I have a 15mm spacer on my rears and they look awesome. The tires i run are MPS2 235/35/19 in front and 315/25/19 rears.
It is my understanding that the cost of the GT3RS wheels took a substantial jump around January 1, 2008. so double check on pricing as i know they are no longer available at the price i paid from the dealer.
i hope that helps...

Your correct, alot of misinformation on this subject!
The GT3 and GT3RS both use a 5mm rear spacer.
Fronts:
The GT3RS and GT3 uses a 8.5 width/ 53mm offset front and the 996tt uses a 8" width/ 50mm front. So the RS/GT3 wheels are 1/4" wider on each side when measured from the centerline compared to the 996tt, but the RS offset is 3mm(1/8") less agressive. Subtract the wheel width from the offset and the RS/GT3 fronts extend 1/8" further than the 996tt wheels when mounted.
RS WHEELS=12" wide/51mm offset and the TT=11"wide/45mm offset. RS wheels are 1/2" wider on each side of the centerline than the TT wheel, but have 6mm (1/4") less agressive offset. So the RS wheels extend 1/4" further out and 3/4" inward than the TT wheels when mounted .

- NO SPACER NEEDED FOR THE FRONT, ALTHOUGH ANY MODIFICATION TO THE CALIPERS MAY AFFECT THE CLEARANCE AND A SPACER MAY BE REQUIRED!

- A SMALL SPACER MAY BE NEEDED TO CLEAR INNER WHEELWELL OBSTRUCTIONS ON SOME 996TT's, 996 C4S's AND 996GT2's.
- IF YOU WILL BE USING 997GT3 REAR WHEELS(NON RS), YOU WILL NEED TO ADD 15MM TO 17MM SPACER SINCE THESE WHEELS HAVE THE 997 NARROW BODY OFFSET OF 68MM.
- ROLLING THE FENDER LIPS MAY BE NEEDED IF ONE OPS FOR A MORE AGGRESSIVE SPACER!
- THE 997GT3 AND GT3RS FRONT WHEELS HAVE THE SAME WIDTH AND OFFSET!
- These wheels are cast, not forged. So although they look good, they could hinder performance due to the addition of unsprung weight to each corner.
- The GT3/GT3RS wheels weigh more that the 996tt hollow sopkes!

The RS wheel is slightly more concave in the center area due to the offset.
Not reall noticeable, unless your really looking for it!
