Cracked Porsche rotors...

I didn't think it would happen, but it did.

About 5k miles since i have been driving the car, and the rotters are cracked,
anything better out there then oem?

I drive hard, and i do track the car!

Thanks for the tips!

Enrique

Enrique, if you track the car, rotors will spiderweb crack...just the way it is. If you do cool down laps you can extend the life of them, but they will need to be replaced sooner or later. Just because they are cracked doesnt mean they are no good. I forget what the actual measurements are,but they are serviceable so long as there are no cracks of xmm length or intersecting cracks or cracks that extend to the outer edges. I am probably going to upgrade to the 6piston Porsche yellow Monoblocs with 350mm rotors all around since the kit costs less than 4K...Rotors are just the price of playing at the track... Kevin

Enrique-

Small cracks are ok.

As per the factory repair manuals, cracks that are no longer than .20" are acceptable.

If you find that you have a crack running to the edge of the rotor, you need to have them replaced.

Hope that helps.

all of us who track get cracks it is "normal" what is not normal are cracks longer than 7mms, hole to hole cracks (I hate them) and cracks to the edge of the rotor.
So unless you have the above you shouldnt need to get new rotors......yet!!

If possible, find solid rotors...

The holes...the horror...the holes...
