The big black car thread
#24
I'm actually considering doing something sinister like this for my next vehicle.
I'm terribly concerned, as a mostly very **** person who is a perfectionist like most, that the dust and bits of crud will drive me insane.
Now keep in mind I keep the Porsche garaged at home, garaged at the office, and drive it a few days a week, avoiding crappy weather if possible. Not a big deal, as I detail it myself, and that too has become an affliction. But my Guards Red '04 is flawless, the paint is perfect, and I've kept it that way.
That said, the Guards/Sand thing is beginning to eat at me (too light a color maybe, not sure I'd want black interior on Guards, etc)...and this is for a cab. I've considered every other color (I do have the benefit of actually 'seeing' every color every day at the office). Cobalt is a grabber, as is Midnight, but I'm not a blue car guy. I'm a Guards Red guy, and I love nearly every Porsche in Guards (not the Pepper). I think the Guards/Tan/Black is a classic combo for a cab, so I'm torn about going Guards/Black/Black. GT Silver is also a possibility, and I find it very easy on the eyes, but too common (silver is silver, even if it IS GT Silver, a great color)...and to me, a Porsche was meant to be Guards (or Black).
So....I need either major medication recommendations , or at least the con side of the argument. Yes, I can detail nearly any weekend, but my Guards C4S Cab with Rejex does NOT need to be cleaned that often, because even when it's a bit dusty/dirty it does NOT show it.
But a triple black cab....man, that is just making me wonder about coming over to the dark side. One thing I do hate on my other driver, the black dash shows every spec of dust. That does suck.
OK, so let's hear how bad it really is.....

Its all worth it when you get finished cleaning it and for a little while, it is a mirror to everything around it and the black shines like no other paint out there.
I daily drive a black Yukon XL and you just have to keep it clean. As a matter of fact I run a fleet of black Sub's and they all look very good when we are all in the same place together. Looks like the mafia has rolled into town.
