Are you on a stock TT crank?
I think this says a LOT about the transmission in these cars if you can break after market axles and not the tranny.

Your axle problem is related to the suspension geometry, rather than the axles themselves. You will need to do changes to the attack angles. The 935s and some 993 EVOs of the time had the same issue.
