Rob,
If u have mechanic that can do ur motor... change ur rods, headstuds, etc and be done with it. no tuning required.
Headwork will require tuning.

I was on 100 octane and boosting 1.56 bars with my Authorized Mechanic checking the engine for misfires, plugs etc... tuning it for the supra nationals! We were using a computor that was pluged into the obd port.. nothing suggested detonations !!!! i think 67K miles was to much.. yes i want to rebuild the motor mark ... where can I buy the parts as a kit?? i might decided to save the 6k and not build the 3.8 liter kit??? everyone is telling me to spend the money elsewhere?? would love to have everyone's input
sincerely

Once you are opening the engine, you should definitely install stronger rods, head studs and a head gasket, and possibly also stronger valve springs.
You should also port and polish your heads. EVOMS has a relationship with a shop that, form what I hear, does very good work. As others have observed, a new program will likely be necessary to accomodate the increased airflow. I suspect that EVOMS already has such a program available for GT700s with ported heads, but if they do not, they can create one for you.
Good luck,
Craig
Yes I called and left a message with Mike but four days later and still no reply... Craig do you know how much they charge to reprogram my kit?? I would love for somebody from EVOMS to help me with my questions
Sincerely, Robert

Rob,
thats really strange that the head gasket popped. 1.54 bars is what these cars run with ur kit. I pushed my old stage 5 on a stock fuel system( 5 bar) to 1.5 bars and it loved it... never had any problems.
in any event,
u have to figure out what u want to do and go for it. just get the rods and etc that will just get u going ... since u have the mechanic.. he can do it in no time.

Very sound advice. Also if possible try to get the work as close to you as possible. If there are any complications, warranty issues, revisits, etc. it won't be a monumental task.
Consider cams and a higher redline.

Rob go with what Stephen says! From what I hear he is one of the best around to build your motor. I can tell you from experience that if even the slightest thing is a .001" off something can/will go wrong. Thats why I would only trust the best.
I will get Greg's #. He only does cyl. heads but I'm not 100% sure how many sets of Porsche heads he's done (I'm sure a few of them). He's done every other set of heads in the world though! He only does cyl. heads though. He does not build motors or anything. Stephen may have someone that he recommends to do the heads also. He will take care of you on the motor, and if I could he'd be building mine.

I can have the heads machined to flow more than the GT3 heads, but that is not cheap. We can ring them, we can flow them. There are also intake and exhaust cams, we have special springs, Ti retainers and so on. It just depends on how much and what you want done.
A motor should be dry assembled then taken apart, measured, adjusted and reassembled. This is the only way to build a motor. Period. FWIW this is called Blue printing.
