New Turbo Misfiring @2900-3200 rpm

New Turbo Cab with 500 miles. Has anyone else felt a misfire/hiccup when cruising around 3000 rpm's?? It feels like the engine has a split second pause, not a steady purr as you would expect. Had it in for service and dealer sent memo of to PCNA who responded it was normal. That's hard for me to believe. Anyone else feel this on their Turbo engine? I can't believe this is normal.

It's normal, that's the Vario-Cam at work. If the lag/miss is more than half a heartbeat, there might be some concern. I'm sure one of the more knowledgeable guys will chime in here.

Believe it or not, it's normal. This was the first thing I asked the service dept. about with mine.

It's normal, that's the Vario-Cam at work.
I've been told it was the VarioCam by Porsche mechanics, but reading in some Porsche material I found out that VarioCam switches/steps to the 25 degree camshaft timing advance at 1300-1500 rpm, well below the 2800-3200 area where the "hiccup" is.

I think it's an ECU event instead of a VarioCam change.

It's the vario-cam. I've had the same thing in every 996 Porsche I've owned.

Sounds like as the load/accell goes down the dv's are opening and bleeding off the boost. If this is the case it is normal turbo behavior.

If you are talking about about small amount of surging on and off , I think that is normal.

If you accelerate slowly at light throttle openings the intake cam advances at about 3200 RPM, and the high lift kicks in at about 3600. If you are cruising with light throttle opening between 1200 - 3500 RPM and open the throttle, first the cam advances, then the high lift lobe kicks in.

WOW !
I have a new Turbo Cab with 200 miles on it that does EXACTLY the same thing. I never even thought to ask, it seemed like such a minor thing that I thought the burp ( that's what it feels like) was something like a bubble in the fuel

I had it in my 2000, 2002 C2's and my Turbo.

The funny thing is, I never even noticed it until I started reading these posts on these forums.
Some people really ***** about it, and that surprises me. It seems so minor to me.

I was really worried at first going from an s2000 to the 996TT is a big difference, the NA hondas are so smooth in comparison but there is no comparison with the TT at WOT!!!!!!!!!!1
