Detailing a black car...
My Buddy Jim owns a black 2004 GT3 and he's a black car fan. I made a comment to him on the phone about my car being a little beat up. That's when he said "Block out next Saturday" and that was that...
We started by washing the car. We then used a Zaino claybar, then dried the car with a leaf blower and micro-fiber drying towels...
The previous owner had used a paste wax on the car at some point and left residue all over the rubber seals and black plastic... We used a heavy dose of Z6 on those areas to get that stuff off. We then went thru the paint polisher, sealer, Z5, and then Z8.
I"ll snap some pics later to show before and after results, but the car now looks as if I could put it in a magazine. All I can say is WOW!!!

Zaino Brothers wax is AMAZING on black cars. I had a 2003 Hummer H1 Wagon that was black. That is A LOT of black. I used the Zaino every 6 months and that truck looked brand new everyday until the day I sold it!!!

new to detailing. I have a black TT and really want it to look clean and stand out. Kinda hard in Boston
But what products do you guys recommend I use? Are the detailing products you use different/better from lets say a professional detailing shop ?

First purchase should be a Porter Cable....
Clay Bar
Porter Cable using:
First pass Menzerna Intensive
Second Menzerna FP II
Mothers Reflections (hand)
Pinnacle Souveran (hand)
Have not yet tried Zaino, but all reports read very positive.

Yes Zaino is the sh**. Just put another coat of Z-2 on yesterday and snapped a quick photo (which is now my avatar). And this pic does it no justice as I am no photographer. You can clearly see the reflection of the sky and tree that is right next to the car. It's like a mirror

I have used Zaino on my 1972 Camaro show car, works good but a pita. I own a Car Wash-detailing center. After using a buffer w/ a foam pad we use meguiers NXT Tech Wax. Looks just as good as the 6,000 step Zaino process. 1/10th the time.
