Just finished my UMW k16/k24 Install
Well I finally got around to installing my k16/k24 Stage 2 Z/C UMW turbo kit / Forge Diveters (Yellow Spring) / UMW Ported and Polished Ceramic coated headers/ New plugs / Carbon Fiber Sportec Intake / GT3 SSR Wheels / Fabspeed Exhaust / EVoms Hoses. I purchased the Turbos from KPG. He is a great guy very helpful. He gave me some pointers for the install which made my life a little easier.
My messy work bench with old and new turbo.
Getting ready to go under the knife!
Here is just a pic of the dirty underside. After seeing OAKS underside I know I must clean mine.
Rear bumper is off both wheels heat shielding almost ready for the real work to begin.
Well I got lazy taking pics I already removed the turbo and IC
Here is a closeup. It was all pretty straight forward my only issue was a stuck drivers side fitting on the sump. A "LITTLE" heat and some cussing and it came out.
Here is a shot of the ported headers, new turbos and fab speed cats. Don't forget your torque specs and pattern on those headers! Oh yeah and prime those turbos damit!
I learned alot about my car this past weekend. I worked over several days as I had some other stuff going on. I have no idea how long it really took me. I tend to move slow though like a sloth! My lift really helped out. I hate laying on my back unless a woman is on top of me!
This weekend I hope to get the rest of my stuff installed!
I still have to do the 5bar FPR (For my race tune) / JIC Coilovers / AP Control Arms / AP Endlinks / H&R Rear Sway/ B&M Shifter
My thoughts about my new setup:
Well the boost is great hitting 1.3 BAR. The spool is very quick and burn outs are very easy. My exhaust is not too bad (Drone). My only complaint is the factory tips don't fit right? Everything else is great. I could always use more power and quicker spool up though I love roots blowers
THANKS AGAIN KPG AND Ultimate Motor Works (The other Kevin)

Wow, very imressive. I can't believe you tackled all that yourself. Are you a mechanic, or do you just have a huge set of ***** to take your turbo apart and try to install all the new goodies?????

Looking good CPU. When you change your FPR, could you take some pics? I need to do this on my turbo and I know you should remove the air pump but I have not done this before. Or Marek, if your listening, do you have a DIY? thanks

Ralph, congrats and I am glad you are happy. It is nice to see people getting their hands dirty on these cars, it is a rewarding experience . Best of luck and it has been great speaking with you recently...I will be more than happy to drive to OH and help with the stage3 or 4 install .....Kevin

No I actually have a computer science degree Growing up though most my cars where uh.... rough. Since I could only drive what I could afford you learn how to do a few things I actually made a appointment to have it done because of time mostly. This weekend though I just thought what the hell and tore in to it. You ever need any help let me know. We could swap favors as I maybe building a custom house soon.

You won't be disappointed!

I will try to snap some shots for you. It's hard when you are covered in grease to pic up a camera.

So how does the 5Bar FPR rate say against the pain getting to the clamps on the diverters?
It would be nice to have these well documented with pictures. I would have paid to have good step by step with color pics. For anyone swapping turbos the sump takes a very long allen wrench bit say 6". I bought a cheap set of L shaped allens cut the end off the 6mm and put it in a socket. As you will find it's hard to find one at sears or with out ordering onlie
