buying 01 TT
Hello all. I'm new to this forum and I'm wondering what anyone's thoughts are about the following deal.
I live in North Dakota and last May I purchased a silver/gray 1997 993 TT from my Porsche dealer. The car has 28,000 miles and is Porsche certified until next May. It's a reasonably well-optioned car but has some paint issues (repainted front fenders, bumper), no real service history. I have the car scheduled for new tires and the 30,000 mile service. I also should replace the windshiield (rock chips), add new shocks plus a couple of minor other fixes. The car runs strong and mechancially is up to snuff and really does look pretty good.
Anyway, my dealer has a 2001 seal gray/black full leather TT with 19K miles on his floor. The car is bone stock and but for one very minor scratch on the sill below the door, looks show room new. It is a one-owner car and was put in service in August of 2001. It has all books and service history and has Porsche's certified warranty through August 2007. Thankfully, the car has no bumperettes but has the hollow spoke wheels. List price was just a tad over $116,000. The car was picked up at auction for another buyer
The car has been offered to me for $27,000 difference. He had a floor price of $92,000 on the car so basically he is giving me $65,000 for my car. I figure the new tires, schocks, 30.000 mile service, windshield, etc will run $3-4,000 so the difference actually drops to around $23,000.
From what I've read here, it appears a car like the one I'm considering would only be a low-to mid-80's car.
Anyone have any thoughts about the deal. Thanks

After looking at several cars over the last month or so, I just bought a certified, loaded '01 for $88,500. It's probably a bit high but the car has 6,800 miles and is perfect. Original MSRP was $132K. I'd rather spend the extra few $K and get something that is exceptional than to always feel like I had to compromise.
I don't know what the wholesale market is on your 993 but I do know that $92K seems pretty high considering the options and miles.
JMHO,
Bart

I just bought a 01 TT last month, well equiped, carbon pack and all, the original sticker was around 130k. It had 1k miles, so practically new. I paid 88k.
I think your dealer is asking a bit too much. For that, you can get a lower milege or newer.
