I'm curious about that, too. I ran NGK BKR9EIX iridiums in my blown 9-second Camaro. They held up to the intense cylinder pressure at the track and didn't get horribly fouled on the street. One pass would typically clean them up at the track.

No iridium fans here?

I'm using NGK Iridium IX (BKR7EIX). I was going to go Denso, but was a little worried about the smaller electrode size. I was probably just being paranoid though, since smaller .4mm electrode would lower the voltage requirements.

Iridium is supposedly better than platinum spark plugs, in terms of corrosion, resistance and ignition performance.

Lots of interesting theories in this thread. However, I am only aware of two tuners who have tested different spark plugs in 996TTs -- Protomotive and EVOMS -- and both separately determined that the Denso Platinums work best.

It would be useful to know the list of plugs tested and what the shortcomings of the "losers" were. Recommendations from even reputable sources can be misleading for many reasons, e.g. exclusion of viable alternatives, unintentional or otherwise, or even outright sponsorships. Ferrari insists on Shell oil, but I doubt that is because their engineers believe the product is genuinely superior.

Proto and EVOMS probably don't get Densos for free, but I'd still like to know what alternatives were tested and where they fell short.

We ran normal ND in all blown alcohol motors, the reason?? Well its much better to burn off the electrode than melt the piston.....LOL......of course 3-4 passes and they are shot, not so good for a street car....

Has anyone tried the Pulstar Pluse Plug? Instead of 50 watts of peak power typical of all spark plugs, pulse plugs deliver up to 10 times more peak power.
