$500 Oil Change - WTF???

Dealer is trying to rape me on a routine oil change. Service manager stated that is costs $500 and takes 3 hours. I was tempted to give him the finger "no thanks". This will be my first oil change (driven 3K miles over the past 12 months), so I don't know if his quote is standard dealer pricing.

Seems a bit high since you can get all the parts needed including the oil for about $100. Even if it took 3 hours, which it shouldn't, WTF is his hourly rate?

I'd find somewhere else to do it. To me it should be about $250 for an independant shop to do.

Sounds about right for dealer pricing... welcome to the club

You can laso go to Devek, they're private, I donno if they know a lot about the 996 TT, but they cost around $200-300 for my oil change/service.

I paid $134 for a 3000-mile oil change in Newport Beach, CA.

That included oil, oil filter and labor.

I used an independent of course, but one who woks on nothing but exotics and sports cars.

That a typcial dealer price... I used to pay $150 at an indy shop (well that would normally be my rate, but I got it for free ). Go with an indipendent shop for little stuff that like...

You should have given him the finger. Go to Schucks or AutoZone or something, get an oil pan do it yourself. They even take the old oil and filter when you’re done. They also stock mobil1 0-40 around where I live. That just leaves the filter, which is a dealer item anyways.

I use a mobile 10 minute change facility. they stock 0w40 and it takes them about 20 minutes with the filter. I get charged 85 dollars and they use the filter I provide( I could use there , pttth never!). I forgot the filter cost but I would say about 110 dollars. Deal over here charges 260$ for the oil change with filter.

LOL..you can do it in your garage in less than 30 minutes. It's cake.

The OEM filter costs about $16.00, and you need 9.3 quarts of whatever oil you choose.

dear god I hope thats a misprint.

Another reason to love the viper. Uses a regular oil filter from any magnum V8 truck motor, 10 quarts of oil, and you're done.

$500 is outrageous. i spent under $200 at DTLA porsche. even auto gallery which is always on the high side is only $350 or so.
