I like going there to blow off some steam and straighten out some warped thought processes...

That's funny that you mention this. My friend with a 944 turbo has a K&N filter and it also makes that BOV sound! Everytime he shifts, he's always cracking up!

I asked him if he installed one of those BOVs to make that sound, and he swears it's the K&N filter creating the sound.

Alex, this is the first time i've heard of a 996TT having this type of sound with a K&N. Is this b/c of your modified airbox sucking in more air, or is this just a common occurrence with an aftermarket filter?

I think it's a combination of things. Yes I'm getting more air in, running more boost, using aftermarket DVs and have the BMC Unless of course my Bailey's are honking:P

You may want to check these guys out, yes its true they are insanely expensive but from what I heard they are negotiable plus their intakes are all very beautiful in person. Who knows we might be able to setup a group buy

By the way; as far as performance, you will probably pick up only a couple of hp nothing worth the asking price, but from my experience (depending on you exhaust and exhaust config.) you may will notice slight changes in your ehaust notes because of the increase air flow.

Wow! That's some price for something that will add just a couple of HP! Who cares how pretty it is....no one will ever see the damn thing.

along the lines of filters....

Is there much of a difference between the $60.00 K&N and $120.00 BMC?

Yes, it's pretty simple. Just have to unplug the MAF sensor plug and loosen one O-clamp after you have removed the one bolt holding the airbox to the chassis. This is the howto for the 996, but it's virtually the identical process for TT, GT2/3

probably not...Just what you prefer. BMC's are used in Formula 1 cars...Perhaps that's where the premium is...
