GT2 Sway Bars

GT2 Sway Bars
Will replacing my stock sway bars with GT2's make a noticeable difference in handling? The rest of the suspension is stock...I want to preserve the stock feel and ride height...

Are GT2 sway bars different from GT3 sway bars? Also, what's up with racers group bars? They want a little over a grand for the pair, and they are replica GT3 bars. Don't other places sell the actual GT3 bars for cheaper?

I recently installed the adjustable front and rear GT-3 sways from Racers Group. I had the same desire to maintain the stock feel but with better control. I must say, it did do exactly that. My recent track event at Lime Rock showed that the front push is gone; the car is near neutral in turns but I can power steer the rear out at will. Very happy with the results.

David,
I actually just stumbled across an earlier post you made regarding the racers group bars. In your previous post you said:
"I recently installed a set of front/rear GT-3 Sway Bars from Racer's Group. It came with drop links for the front which placed the bar behind the front axle."
This is from the thread at:

So is the front bar in front of or behind the axle?? Just curious as I am considering these bars...

The stock bar goes to the rear of the axle. The new, with straight drop links, go in front of the front axle. I have the GT-3 sways. My original comment of behind the front axle was wrong. I was standing to the rear of the car. In normal driving they do not rub (I will check this weekend by turning the wheel lock to lock) and seem quite sturdy.

In normal driving the ones I had about three years ago didn't rub either. I had the GT3R bar. On lock to lock in the stiffest settings they scored my axles. They may have changed things since then. I would be interested in knowing.

It's all just very strange to me because I emailed racer's group a few weeks ago and the guy who emailed me back said the front droplinks are curved. Maybe they have different options ...

I have never seen an option available to eliminate scoring in the stiffer settings other than curves drop links. I had the problem about two years ago and Scargo came up with a solution which was to make curved drop links.

I cannot see the drop links unless the car is on a lift and the bottom cover is removed. I cannot do that in my driveway. I have the front bar set at next to the softest setting (rear next to the stiffest) so that may be why mine does not seem to rub the axle.

David,
If your new front bar is positioned in front of the front axle, where is it mounted to the frame? The stock "rear-of-axle" position obviously has the clamp-to-frame mounting points. Did you have to drill and tap new mounting points to reverse the bar so that it is oriented in front of the axle? Fundamentally, it will not make any differnce which side of the axle it is on. I suspect that locating it to the front will free up the interference issue that Chad speaks of.
Can you post a picture of the front mount to the frame as well as the front drop link?
Much obliged!
Regards,
Ken
