ECOD Hunter Valley, Australia drive day
Hey guys, wasn't really sure where abouts to post this up, I figured since there was a couple of Porka's in it this was probably as good a place as any. Although if the mods think it's in the wrong place, tow it
A bunch of us went for a cruise up the Putty Rd yesterday to the Hunter Valley about two hours north of Sydney (Australia) for some lunch (turned out to be a late lunch)
We started out at Rouse Hill Macca's for the meeting point, with a 9am departure, however, since Kenny (MrBlonde) was coming a bunch of us were late to the meet point. My mate Jeff organised it so it seemed like a pretty good excuse with the weather to get the cars out for a fang. April is notorious for the start of the bad weather season down here. Jeff (Garcia1305) took his Boxter S, Dom came in the new Audi RS4 and Sim decided to leave the 996 GT3 RS and bring his black 993 TT. Kenny took the Turbo out for a fang which I think was his first blat in it since he did the TechArt upgrades.
The 996 TT and BMW brigade
The Falcon and Mrs in the 335 Coupe
Dom in his 4.2 ltr V8 RS4, the engine sounds off its **** on full throttle!
Mr Shelswell in his spanking clean Turbo
Sim and Ainslee in the 993
Profile of the cars
We headed up to Windsor and up the Putty Rd, I know most of you have never even heard of it! Let alone driven it and its a great run, lots of twists and fast bits, it runs for about 100 km (60 miles) there was no traffic except for a Holden VK Commodore (made by the same people as the Pontiac GTO) on a trailer and a bunch of people out for a outing in a BMW 318 doing 80 k in the 100 zone. Bloody BMW drivers!
Sim had a leak in the left rear of the 993 so we stopped off to strech our legs, have a bit of a chat and take some pics, while Sim put some air in the tyre and Kenny fixed up his $$$ TechArt gear **** that decided to come loose on the way up.
Ains in the 993 while Sim makes another tyre pressure pit stop.
We got to the resturant about 1:30 and managed lunch over a couple of hours as everyone was starving and had a few glasses of wine before heading back to Sydney down the F3.
A big thanks to Jeff for organising the day and lunch as it was a good day and everyone had a good time out. I think it was also his first real day trip in his 986 since he picked it up around 8 weeks ago. Also a big hand out to the Falcon for taking a break from BASE jumping and shooting the in car in the 335 and Renee for the shots in the Porka.
The video of the day is up on YouTube here for anyone who's interested in checking it out.
Till next time.

Thanks for posting.
Great photos.
Guys please let me know when you next plan another trip.
What accelerated my porsche aquisition is a drive along the same route on a Porsche drive the range day(but no 996tt ).It was a sensational day even though it rained the whole trip. Did it again a few months ago and planning another.
When is the Kangaroo valley trip planned for and how do I sign up?
Great photos.

Hey that looks like it was a fun day! Please let me know the details for the next Aussie/Sydney ECOD drive (Kangaroo valley is a great drive!) and myself and the mrs will likely come along, adding another 966TT to the mix.
Cheers,

Hey guys, it was scheduled for this Sunday but unfortunantly the weather looks like it's going to get the better of us. We aren't entirely sure yet, but are hoping to push ahead provided the weather is good and it isn't going to be like the weather has been for the last few weekends. If it is obviously we'll be canning it for another date/drive destination.
Generally the aim is to try and get together or go for a drive every 4-6 weeks as it takes some organising as some members have young families etc.

Maybe someone can startup an AUSSIE drive morning for a spin here and there. ECOD will remain reasonably smallish. Thank you for your interest though.
OK.
Now that you put it that way...I really liked the pic with the Aldi sign in the background.
Did you go to an A La Carte restaurant or did you buy your Lunch at Aldi...
Just joking of course.
" AUSSIE drive morning" is a great idea...
BTW did you guys get a chance to gauge the performance of the RS4 vs 996tt?

They had one proper drag from a set of lights where the RS4 took the trophy due to the 996TT bunny hopping off the mark for about a second. The RS4 got it to the ground better on this occasion. I don't think there would be much between them from a best of 10 scenario. It was great to watch though being directly behind them at the time.

YEah with Kenny on this one, are you talking about Simon's 993 TT? It defiantely had some axel trap if that is what you mean by "bunny hop" I'd wager Simon's car would be quicker over 1/4 mile without doubt.

Cool, your on! RS4 traps 108 mph, I'd expect the 993 TT to run 112+
You should take your Boxter out for a run and see what it does, Im happy to come out and show you how it works, I'm sure Kenny'd come out for a geeze as well, could film some grudge action.
