Double clutching is fun when done right trans just slips into gear with no wear on the syncros . It also gets you into knowing the engine speed and gear selection relationship at all times.

That said forget it on the track no time, and much too much going on when you are about to down shift and start trail braking.

If you don't have a LTW Flywheel, I doubt it's any or much faster to heal-toe than double clutch. I know I can double clutch in the time it takes for the RPMS to match the downshift with a stock flywheel, on my bmw.

its for older cars and not necessary. you are to make as few movements as possible on the track.

Double clutching becomes a habit from old cars... though 996TT sure don't need it with a blip of throttle. It does sound nice!!!

double clutch, wtf!?! we use a new technique called heel-toeing, maybe youve heard of it? jk. i always heel-toe, even when on the street, its just so much fun, but also i like to just blip the throttle on downshifts as well.

Please define double clutch.

Most trackers do the heel toe thing but not double clutch in the conventional
sense. No one would voluntarily do more movements (= time loss) on the track. I used to do it in my 66 GTO just to hear the motor rev up/down.

No,

I do not heel toe on the street, I drive like a normal (non-racer) driver
on the street. I do admit it is fun to practice once in awhile!!

I also hate to admit I always wear my driving shoes when driving my Porsche
because I have big feet (12+).

No need to is right on street, but if you mastered it and do it a lot its in the blood hah, a 2nd nature movement I use both sides of my foot opposed to a true heel/toe motion!

heel\toe is a diffrent movement than double or single clutching. Heel toe is braking and blipping at the same time. Double clutching is rev matching with the gearbox in neutral. Single clutching is rev matching with the clutch in, gearbox not in neutral
