996 Turbo / GT2 Turbo discussion on previous model 2000-2005 Porsche 911 Twin Turbo and 911 GT2.

Anyone go from a E46 M3 to a 996TT??

Of course the m3 felt lethargic, it was an smg cab . You guys are forgetting that the turbo costs twice as much too. I'm torn b/w getting a 996TT and waiting for the 997. I'd even consider a 993 for an even better drive.
A 993 is certainly a bit more "raw" but if you're suggesting the 993TT outperforms the 996TT you're sorely mistaken.

I had an M3 with SMG for about 8 months. I am very surprised that some of you guys think it feels like it accellerates quicker than a TT. I was messing around the other day with a guy in his brand new SMG convertible and my lowly 90 964 carbiolet was pulling away from him easily and my bone stock TT is noticeably quicker than my 964.

This thread originally was meant to discuss the differences in THROTTLE RESPONSE only. It got a little carried away I guess The conclusion being that the sport button on the M3 creates a very sensitive and more reactive throttle response than the TT. The TT overall, is noticeably quicker through the gears, as no surprise
