I will tell you what can beat a Z06...

I have a friend that has a 1st gen RX7 that he has swapped in a 3rd gen RX7 single turbo motor. He dynoed at over 400hp at the wheels but the damn car weighs nothing. Last time we raced we were neck and neck and he was spinning like crazy on his big 225's. Now he is running drag radials and he is going to be scary.

Lets just face it..The americans finally did one thing right.. The car is better in most respects to the 996tt or 997TT.

So Porsche owners are pissed... they should be.

The same way that everone should be pissed Lexus can make a car that has 100x better buiild quality than American or German made cars. I am pissed about that...

To put in in perpective... If you bump in to your ex-girlfreind who dumped you in a high school would you rather have her see you in a Porsche Turbo or a Z06??

My best friend has a z06 - thing is crazy fast and a very sharp car... Score one for the US - we finally beat the Germans at their own game...and at half the cost...

actually, just for the record
lexus uses synthetic leather blends in their top of the line LS, and all the wood paneling in their cars are fake

there is absolutely no level of engineering to any lexus


and as far as the comment on a z06 being better in most respects than a 997tt ...
is that a serious comment ??

do you realize that the 997tt TIPTROPIC can accelerate to 60mph in 3.4 seconds ?
are u aware of the VTG in the car ? or the PASM, and the PCCBs ?
come one man...

also, you can drive the porsche 365days per year, rain , snow , or shine...
you can take it on a long trip, and you can feel the quality of the car when you open and close the door...

come on man...

The Vette has one of the best traction control programs on the market. Really allows you to explore the limits without getting into trouble. Many magazines have agreed with this comment. And the Vette does not have PCCB's, it only costs $70k. Even Chevy has it's limits of what it can squeeze into a $70k package. But, for a low low price of about $5000 you can get some monster Brembo's to replace the already stunning brakes in the Z06 and yes, you are still under the $150k price tag of a 997TT with PCCB's.

Sorry man, that part made me . No offense intended, but you need to re-read your own comments in this thread, as that is EXACTLY what you have been doing. Its your opinion, so no harm-no foul, but to say that "you haven't been trying to take away from the ZO6" is really ironic.

I'm in a weird position because I have both.

The Z06 is just so much fun to drive. It's hard to explain. The tail kicks out, it sounds like a beast accelerating (headers and Magnaflow exhaust help), it makes every kid in a STi want to race you, it's just a redneck race car. It also has an okay interior and it has some squeeks and rattles and a plethora of check engine lights.

The 997TT is just a beautiful car. It's doors shut like a vault, it drives smooth and quiet if you want it to, it doubles as a saturday night date car and a sunday afternoon race car, it wears many hats.

I guess I just have to say that I highly recommend getting both. There, that settles it.

regarding the pricing of the Z06... does chevy actually make any money on it ?
or is it like the carrera gt, and veyron, where they actually build it to lose money, to prove to the world what they are capable of building ?

They have to be making money on that thing. Here is what is expensive... The motor, the front fenders, and thats about it. The rest is pretty much standard C6 fare and it is plentiful in Bowling Green.

Someone call a doctor, this may be the worst case of magraceritis I have ever seen!!!!!!

The Z06 owns the 997 turbo, regardless of ring times and 0-60 times, the Z06 is faster, period, better car overall? Now that can be argued, but the turbo can outlaunch the Z06 and that's about it. Porsche is also starting to get into the b.s.ing people about how fast the car is, like where is the 11.2 they claimed??

And I would want to drive a 130k car 365 days a year, in the rain, sleet and snow, so that's irrelevant. Maybe the 997 will inherit the 996's trait of modability and when they become more affordable people will really start using them, but I have to agree the Porsche turbo as a new car is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY overpriced!!!!!!

the z06 is a great car, but it is not a porsche turbo
it is not even close to a porsche turbo
the roads arent all straightaways
No offense... and I realize your just repeating what you've heard... but saying the Z06 is only good on a straigtaway is really funny considering it's a track car. Stock-to-stock I'm fairly certain they out corner a turbo.

why does a porsche or ferrar f430 cost so much more ?

im not being srcastic at all, it's just i don't understand why the euro cars are 2-3x more expensive ?
