Anyone who says otherwise just has not driven one, or did not drive it where it should have been driven.
I own both. I have a fairly modded 996 Turbo S, and a Z06. I prefer the handling feel in my Turbo S and I love the Porsche experience, but the Z06 does it all, they are very comperable, vehicles, but hard to compare because they do it differently.

Luis (in his GT3) and I waxed one (on slicks, with mods) on the roadcourse earlier this year. Look at that body roll

I took out a 680 rwhp car mustang cobra (with a good driver) with a stock z06. The cobra is a quick car but its a little fat.

You only need about 600 crank to beat the c6z06.............trust me I know.

The Z06 is just so much fun to drive. It's hard to explain. The tail kicks out, it sounds like a beast accelerating (headers and Magnaflow exhaust help), it makes every kid in a STi want to race you, it's just a redneck race car. It also has an okay interior and it has some squeeks and rattles and a plethora of check engine lights.
The 997TT is just a beautiful car. It's doors shut like a vault, it drives smooth and quiet if you want it to, it doubles as a saturday night date car and a sunday afternoon race car, it wears many hats.
I guess I just have to say that I highly recommend getting both. There, that settles it.

If I had to get rid of one, I would have to flip a coin. The vette is ***** on fun to drive, you can hang the *** out anywhere you want, do big smokey smoke shows, rolling burnouts, etc... but when your mood changes, you can take any twisty road and pull a G through the corners. The Porsche just feels right, and I love it's crisp precise feeling!

Not to mention he runs at what is considered the fastest and best prepped track (or top three) in the country, compared to Joe running in hot elevation in AZ. Trust me, that turbo is much faster than any Z.
Only 1800 of the supercharged Z will be produced, 100k msrp, millions of crazy and lots of rich garage queeners will have them, you wont see but a couple at the track EVER. They are a non issue, almost as bad as mag racing.
BTW GM did a fantastic job of covering up all of the cheap stuff they did to the car, the whole thing is glued together, to save weigh, which is why the roofs are flying off, there are lots of cheap components on corvettes, always have been, always will be, Porsche ARE built better with better materials.
Look at it this way, if Porsche made the 997 Turbo like a track car (not GT2) and just eliminated some of the deadening, lost more weight but kept AWD and tried to make it anything other than a fast cruiser (face it the turbo was not built for racing, the vette was designed after the race car) it would smash the Z06, but even as it is, without even trying to beat the Z06, Porsche has come close, like I said earlier, its way overpriced as new but you cant argue that for what it contains and was built for, it's one bad ****.
IT DOES NOT TAKE 600WHP TO BEAT A Z06!!!!! It only takes k24's, a very good ecu and an exhaust. I can prove that any time.

Z06 isn't just fast in a straight line. If you're comparing stock to stock and performance only, the Z06 wins. If you start looking at other items like price, luxuries, marque, steering feel, etc. it's personal preference.
