Question: Boost Pressure Spikes 1.5 bad?
Hey guys,
I have Evo stage 4, wastegate springs, hoses, etc. when i hammer it, occasionally i'll see a millisecond spike of 1.4 or 1.5, then it will settle at 1.1 or 1.2 and pull like a mule. Are those brief over shots something to worry about? i've read about blowing the MAF, fouling plugs, etc. Should i have my wastegate springs readjusted?
Thanks

I have you same setup (no headers). I NEVER see 1.4 bar and see a 1.3 spike for a split second at about 5,000 rpm before the cumputer dials back boost to a steady 1.2 to redline. I think something is amiss in your setup.

I have the K16/24 with garret 1 bar actuators and upsolute chiptuning and I also see a millisecond spike of 1.4 or 1.5 bar but I believe it's normal,it's been for more than a year now and I never had any problems...

Todd,
are you noticing the car pulling back when you see the spike (ie TBSD)?
are you seeing this boost on a electronic gauge? If so get a aftermarket boost gauge and then see what happens.
Look at my car current setup, AFR, Boost, and Voltage.

Jags,
I don't feel any pulling back and yes i'm seeing it on the car's electronic guage. The scenario is I'm in 3rd gear and I hammer it, i'm mainly just watching the road but at high rpm, occasionally see this millisecond blip of 1.4 I just wasn't sure if seeing that kind of number should alert me to go straight to the shop or should i just keep an eye on it? it doesn't do it everytime
thanks

Does it do that right after you shift into the next gear? Right at the top of the redline (blip) shift. That's when mine blips 1.1 or 1.2. I'm not sure if the boost gauge is all that accurate at that millisecond between shifts.
