Drew,

You will get a variety of opinions on the V-flow. I ran one with the stock MAF for 2 years with no problems - just upsides such as better throttle response, quicker spool, more power and nice sounds, but many others claim they had MAF failures immediately after installing the V-flow. There is dyno information to support the power gains. Given my experience, I am all for it and feel it's well worth the money - I love mine.

Yes, we modified it to a sort of hybrid version - the cone filter and first couple of inches are original V-Flow, then the rest of it is the Protomotive MAF housing. It went together quite well and was a fairly easy fabrication - we made it the exact same overall length of the original V-flow for a proper fit. Here is a picture.

Evo911,

Just to be clear - I am just now installing the Protomotive MAF conversion, as a required component of the Protomotive fuel system upgrade. I did not do this to upgrade the stock MAF because I was having problems with it. That said - it appears many have had problems blowing the MAF when a V-flow was added. It's strange because some have problems right away and others have no problems at all.

I have not even driven the car with this new V-flow set-up yet, although my tuner is very impressed with the results. The car is ready for pick up and I am going to get it tomorrow.

Like I said above, I used the V-flow with the stock MAF for 2 years/30,000 miles without any problems. I would try it - the worst case is you blow an MAF early and decide it's not for you. The opposite outcome is you don't blow any MAF's and enjoy it every day like I did for 30,000 miles and more...I would say "go for it" - if it works well on your car, you will love it. Look for one in the classifieds - they are always popping up for less than retail.

TKD,

Yea, I'm anxious to get it back and try it out. The preliminary word is the power is very impressive and is on like a light switch - no lag and "all there" from extremely low RPM's. And the non-assisted clutch conversion is said to be a perfect blend of effort and feel. It begins engagement very early, just off the floor, which is what I wanted. We'll see...I have to drive it myself to be sure, but it sounds promising. I'll let you know once I have some seat time.

Seldom is there a more contested topic than the V-Flow and MAF sensor issues. After reading all the posts, i got too nervous to even put mine on...thus i have an EVO V-Flow sitting on a shelf in its original shipping box collecting dust next to my back issues of Playboy. :-)

And the battle wages on...

I have not had any CELs or MAF failures since installing the the V-Flow retrofit that utilizes the factory intake waffle. I assume all new V-Flows come with this upgrade.

I would be more than willing to take that v-flow and those playboy's off your hands if you were interested in selling them....
