Do you want to extend the warranty beyond your cpo warranty? If so, you'll have to contact the dealership who sells the aftermarket warranties to see if they will sell you a warranty. In CA i think it has to be under the original factory warranty.

I want an extended or CPO warranty for 4 years, because I know these car's are expensive to repair. I'm try find a car with a factory or CPO warrany, and if I can extend it, it would be great.

The cpo warranty gives you an extra 2 yrs after the end of the factory warranty. So only if you get a 2005 turbo will you get 4 years of warranty (factory warranty till 2009 plus 2 more yrs to 2011). If you get an older car, you'll have to go with an aftermarket warranty, which can be longer coverage if you choose (i got a 6yr/75kmi).

Well, I'm looking at 2002-2003 996TT.
With aftermarket warranty's, do you have to pay the bill, then send the bill to the company and they pay you back, or they pay the Porsche dealership?

I don't think you can with most warranty companies- most require that the car is under the original factory warranty. However, you should call your porsche dealership to find out the specifics of the aftermarket warranty.

I went with Easycare on my 02 turbo. it was out of the factory warranty, and it had only 5k miles on it. I wanted to make sure I got a good extended warranty on the car. Easycare had the most favorable reviews. Plus my independant Porsche garage accepted the warranty. no more stealership work for my turbo.

At first glance the CPO warranty, backed by Porsche, seems best....
BUT- I've seen two draw backs:
1. You need to use a dealer.
2. The dealer has a financial 'conflict' in that they (through PCNA) are paying the bill- they can maniulate the data to deny a claim in a worst case, or can simply do a very thorough investigation and know what to look for to deny claims. (Over-rev data, etc)
On the other side of the equation, the CPO extended warranty is backed by Porsche...
