GT700 at Altitude
#16
I went to Bandimere tonight and raced the GT2. Bandimere is about 6000 feet above sea level.
The car dyno'd at 630 whp with a 1.25 correction factor last week. Tonight it consistently ran in the high 11's with a couple of 11.70's. The best time slip is:
60' 1.738
330 5.041
1/8 7.632
MPH 96.11
1000 9.852
1/4 11.716
MPH 122.91
It's amazing the impact that altitude has on cars, even cars with turbos. Here's the interesting part; I had a 2003 Evo8 when they first came out. The car had a 2.3L sroker and an HKS 3240 turbo. It made just over 600 awhp using the same 1.25 correction factor on the same dyno. The power was very similar to the GT2. I pulled up an old Evo8 time slip from Bandimere in 2004:
60' 1.715
330 4.887
1/8 7.493
MPH 95.70
1000 9.684
1/4 11.533
MPH 122.13
They're very close! This same Evo8 ran a 10.95 @ 129 MPH at Atco in New Jersey.
I'd really like to see this GT2 running in the high 10's up here. This winter it may have to go back for more upgrades.

Must be the place for all the Denver guys to jump in. John, I sent you a PM on your GT2, you're good to go man, and great times also. You can only take one vehicle at a time to Bandimiere, but I can find ya someone to take your other one out for ya
BTW-See my thread in OT and events for the monthly get together at Paragon Motorcars on Arapahoe road, this saturday, about 9:30ish or so, coffee and donuts. PM me if you wanna come and/or need directions or whatever, be good to meet some more of the locals, put the S/N with a person.

I did my dyno at MAC back on 2004 when I had the IA Stage III (Cargraphic exhaust, EVO DV, K24, IA Stage III program) and I did 485.32 AWHP & 485.55 AWTQ.
My correction value was SAE: 1.23
When I went IA Stage IV...huge deference, unfortunately I was preparing everything to move to Chile and I did not have the opportunity to dyno. Easy more than 500 AWHP, easy. The difference with the IA Stage IV program + re-calibrated WG was immense.
A friend with an X50 with just chip did at the same dyno (MAC) 460 AWHP.
I think your # are very very good.
I spend almost 5 years in Colorado and cars does feel altitude and even more at Bandimere, where 60’ is key at 6,000 fts.
I had one of the first C32 in the US with Stock internals and Exhaust with 430 hp and my best 1/4 mile run with street tires on 18' and very bad 60' and was 13.8s. With time, same cars on CA or NV where doing mid-high 12s.
Thus, approximately at Bandimere you lose a full second 1/4 mile.
Regards (I do miss Denver)

Thanks for getting the car done so fast. I may head to Bandimere this Sunday, let me know if you're up for going.
The Cayenne is back down in Phoenix with Evolution. I'll let you know when it gets back and we'll take it to the track with the GT2.
We have a party that we have to go to on Saturday so I can't go to Paragon. One of these days I'll make it out.

What are the plans for the Cayenne? Addressing some things or adding more HP?
