Villain...the first Saturday of every month a bunch of locals get together there...all kinds of exotics...coffee and donuts. I think I'm going to head down for a quick visit...but I have a noon appointment.

I have a buddy who used to run a tuning shop in Boulder doing mostly Evo/Sti type cars. He had a dyno dynamics setup and would generallly use a 10% manual correction factor for turbo cars. SAE correction factors were usually in the 25% range for N/A cars.

Its amazing how much the altitude affects cars up there. My M3 was slow as a dog.

You are right, Turbo cars lose app. 1-2% every 1,000 fts. Supercharged 3-4% and N/A cars 5-6%.

I did run in my modded C32 AMG a M3 with a lot of Dinan stuff at Bandimere and I was runing 1/2 second fater. He was on the mid-low 14 sg.

Your GT

As slow as you feel at altitude...you looked a lot faster than I did sitting next to you at Junz last month!

Good to hear from you! How's the turbo running?

Send me a PM if you and your wife would like to meet for dinner at Junz sometime.

Take care,

John

I ran Super Comp today at Bandimere in The Import Event. It's my first time bracket racing and I had a great time. I was thinking of running RWD heads up but my car can't hang yet. The compettion was running very low 11's or high to mid 10's in heads up.

My best times in the elimination rounds were:

R/T .065
60' 1.765
330 5.077
1/8 7.687
MPH 92.28
1000 9.940
1/4 11.832
MPH 121.86

R/T .011 (Missed 3rd gear in this run and went right to 4th but still won)
60' 1.828
330 5.247
1/8 8.485
MPH 76.76
1000 11.047
1/4 13.033
MPH 116.01

R/T .432
60' 1.805
330 5.107
1/8 7.696
MPH 96.29
1000 9.931
1/4 11.805
MPH 121.91

I red lighted on my next run.

I really think that 11.7's to 11.8's is all she's got at this altitude. I'm hoping that Todd from EVOMS can work on a map that helps compensate for altitude. If the turbos and the fuel aren't maxed it should be possible.

Hey John, good talking with ya at the track today. I got your 11.83 on video, I'll try and post it on YouTube. Also got these others, along with silver 997TT that was running great, I saw a low of 11.9 for it, not sure if it made it any quicker.

Thanks for posting the pictures Chance. The 997 was running very consistent 11.90's to 12.00's. I wonder what he's done to it?

Wow,I can't believe how much of an effect the high altitude has had on your times, the 1.7 60 ft would have been a high ten second pass at a sea level track. Many have said it doesn't have much effect on turbo cars, but it now has me curious as to what my car will run on the east coast.I have only run it in its current configuration in AZ (1660 FT above sea level w/DA 2400').Are you running the car with a race tune ....on race gas? Thanks for sharing.

Video has been uploaded to YouTube waiting for it to post. And as it turns out, I do have the 11.80 run video'd. Sorry for the not so great quality, it was done with my digital camera. I'll post the link as soon as it is posted on Youtube.

Joe,

I'm surprised as well. It doesn't seem right and I expected this car to be much quicker. The uncorrected dyno numbers show it makes about 510 whp which seems low even at 6000'.
